Dawson looked better vs Johnson in his last fight (Johnson who proved he still got it by KO'ing Mack in his next fight) than Hopkins looked vs Ornelas and Johnson is a far better opponent than Ornelas. On top of that I doubt Dawson would have had any trouble at all Schooling Pavlik to a one sided UD or possible TKO.

I gotta go with Dawson at this point as a significant favorite if they meet. Dawsons quick athletic style is a style that has always troubled B-Hop

I agree.I feel Dawson wins a UD over Hopkins,Hopkins will have his moments,But everything points to a Dawson UD when i look at it

Unless Hopkins pulls another "Trinidad" like he did against Tarver and Pavlik,But how many of those performances does Bernard have left,He probably be 46 by the time he fights Chad,Because he already stated he wants to wait till Dawson cleans out the division before jumping in the ring with him

I'm definitely a Hopkins fan and will route for him everytime, but Dawson's activity might be too much for Bhops who hasn't had a fight of significance in a while. I would find it hard to imagine Bhops roughing up a stronger, naturally bigger fighter like Dawson, because on the outside I think Dawson might just box circles around Bhops even if he wouldn't land many significant punches.

Hopkins would have to have something in his arsenal to take confidence away from Dawson, lay traps and catch Dawson coming in because I don't see Hopkins outboxing Dawson and Bhops isn't a ko artist either, but if he fought him the way he fought Tarver, he has a great chance.

There's something missing with Dawson. He is an excellent fighter, but there seems to be no fire. He's in a dead division and should move up or down to find better fights.

Dawson at this point, and Hopkins wants nothing to do with him.

Good post. Hopkins is a physical marvel and at his age to be doing what he is doing in the sport is amazing, but he isn't the same guy. Hasn't been for years now. He's 4-3 in his last 7 and lost to guys he would've have more than likely would have beaten in his prime.

Hopkins is a perfect technician. As long as his body held up, he gives any fighter in the history of his weight range problems.

But I cannot forget the Calzaghe fight-I do think his age is going to prevent him from getting the job done against the top young lions of the sport.

Bernard is the better fighter, but at 46 it's gonna be hard for him to beat a rapidly peaking Chad Dawson.

I agree with you I feel as though he has all the talent but he lack the proper mentality. I am expecting him to make costly mental errors against better competition. His division does not have much to offer so I think he may be overrated.

I think that he is physically better than Bernard and should give him problems but I am just not ready to accept he is the best at his weight just yet.

    So I would say Bernard.
