the guy hasegawa first beat for the title, veeraphol sahaprom, is much better than montiel.

montiel will be his best opponent after that.

i hope this fight happens but some sources are saying it's been announced in japan, but that montiel's handlers say there's no deal.

hasegawa is struggling at the weight. not long ago he wanted to go straight up to 126 and fight WBA champ chris john.

i prefer to see hozumi go up to 122 and fight poonsawat - this would be a remarkable war, IMO. an absolute punch marathon. both are on great form.

no doubt he will move up eventually.

at super bantam, it'll probably be either poonsawat or nishioka. at featherweight it could be either chris john or elio rojas.

Sapharom was arguably past it though, just to clear up my previous statement. Brutal stoppage in the 2nd fight through, left straight followed by a short right hook as he stepped in. That's when I first started taking an interest in Hasegawa.

Montiel is no doubt good though. Although was at his best at super-fly.

I hope Hasegawa still stays at Bantam after. I assume this is for them to build up a possible two-weight WBC champs fight between Hozumi and Nishioka, but Yohnny Perez is the perfect farewell opponent for Hasegawa. He'd be pushing 15 defences, would've unified with his most dangerous rival, and proved his greateness against a fighter that appears to be a h2h nightmare.

Hasegawa could be an ATG Bantam. But probably won't end up one. Shame.

I read on a Japanese website the other day that Hasegawa has decided to stay at Bantam in order to gain the Japanese record for world title defences. If he beats Montiel then expect him to fight at least 3 more times at Bantam if he keeps winning. I do worry that this might ultimately be a bad decision if he is struggling to make weight but his performance against Montiel will be a good gauge of just how true this is.

Also, I hope that Hasegawa and Nishioka being on the same card means that the hype is starting in order to build-up a fight between them. I also wonder if this is the start of trying to get more Western media (particularly North American) reporting on Hasegawa. He deserves to fight in America and to have boxing headlines centred on him, IMO.

For the time being Hasegawa-Montiel is a fantastic fight and I am looking forward to this only slightly less than PBF-Mosley:happy:good.

According to the Scene, Fernando-Hozumi ain't happening.

Get Nonito Donaire or Darchinyan in there. If not, the mando or Agbeko and the winner of Vic-Nonito 2 in around October.

The scene says it's a problem with the WBO's bull****. TBH, Montiel said just days ago that he'd love the green and gold so he should just ditch the piece of **** belt, IMO. Man, an awesome fight is at stake for bull**** reasons. I struggle to grasp why boxing is my favourite sport when **** like this happens. Hopefully common sense prevails and someone shits on the WBO in the process:deal.

A chance for Hasegawa to get some real recognition. Is he still struggling with the weight? I'd love to see him fight the winner of Perez v Mares, and then move up to 122.

    He's a nice fella.

That's why I'm gonna feel bad when my boy Montiel beats seven shades of **** out of him.

    It'll be a Saddler-Pep type beatdown.:hey

Not sure exactly when it starts but usually fights from Japan start early morning our time - around 10 or 11am
