I will have to have a dig around for a piece that Frank W did about how difficult it was sometimes to get Joe in the ring, especially against live opponents. Obviously, anything that Frank says on the matter has to be taken with a pinch of salt

id like to see it :good

if that is the case then joe must have had a massive transformation whenever he got in the ring cos that man was fearless inside the ring!

    Great Post, Spot on,

Always annoys me that you never see Joe at ringside for fights except those that his mates are in - Rees etc.

A great way for Joe to keep his name out there would be to show his face at some of these super 6 fights and do a few interviews etc. If he is staying retired say so and how he is there to see the next champ etc, or if he is thinking of coming back even more reason to show up - instead I expect he does not even bother watching it on tv and just spurts nonsense when asked about such and such later.

    **** or get off Joe.

Joe wins by wide ud if it happens, even an old Joe has Froch's number me thinks.[/quote]

he did say he was gona buy a ticket for mayweather pacquiao

It is well documented, and I think Joe even says so himself in his autobiography, he was going to pull out of the Lacy fight two weeks before fight night with a sore hand, and had to be persuaded to actually go ahead and fight by Enzo Calzaghe and Frank Warren.

like you say tho, if his hand was that bad they wouldnt have let him in the ring. could just be that joe was genuinely concerned about breaking his hand again, the guy never punched with any great power after the ashira fight.

There are lots about Calzaghe wanting to pull out the Lacy fight.

    Here are some others.

"He wouldn't get on a plane. He said he had a fear of flying. Yet I can remember after one fight he flew to the West Indies for a holiday! One time he was supposed to do a press thing in the States and at the airport, he tried to get out of flying. He said: 'This is not a jumbo jet, I'm not getting on it.' I said: 'What are you, an aviation expert? It's a plane, for God's sake.' I put him on a jumbo. Once he got there, brilliant. All the flying was just bull****."

"I took Ricky Hatton to America and I also tried to do the same with Joe Calzaghe, but he wouldn't get on a plane."

"I tried to get Joe but he wouldn't get on the plane, you can ask the Showtime head"

Yeah Calzaghe has always wanted the eaiset fights for the most money

Thats why he stayed in the WBO bubble for so long in his comfort zone at the cardiff Ice Rink a 20 minute drive from his house

Shame really - cos he always had the talent to mix it with the best much earlier.

    Nah

There was a incident before where Frank Warren was selecting a upcoming opponet for him

And he told him about maybe 3 or 4 fighters on the shortlist

3 of them were world class / fringe class

    1 was a journeyman - eaiser opponet

Calzaghe was urging Warren to get him the easy one - but still pay him the same money.

But in all seriousness the only thing froch owns is calzaghes old belt, should they ever fight i'm betting the house on calzaghe
