I have not seen his fights, but from what I heard, he is the goods. I still think that his management team is moving him along to quickly for a couple of reasons 1.) He had an extensive amateur background, but this is the pros, he should not be fighting guys with 26 fights 2.) Even if he does win at this level, now no one is gonna want to fight him. It is gonna be hard to match him in the future. We will see what happens.
Still to early to give a confident prediction of how far he goes, but I will say that the kid has the tools and the potential, if harnessed correctly, to go far.
These cubans have been impressing in general. I'm also impressed with Odlanier Solis, but I hope he trims down to 240 or so and gives a good effort. He also has some tools.
They're certainly welcomed, especially for Heavyweight's. Some fresh, skilled and powerful guys for the division would do a lot for it. Hmm, a lot of people complain about not having an American HW, though I know most hardcore's don't care. Do you think the Cuban latino's are more marketable in that respect in comparison to their eastern european counterparts? Sam Peter and african fighters in general are well recieved in the US, but for some reason the eastern euro crop just doesn't hit well over here.
The Kebede lost only from Scott Harrison by KO 1. Dangerus fight for Gamboa but he is good fighter and i belive on him.
Well, Harrison wasn't a 1 punch KO artist, so that indicates a poor chin if he was done in the first round. Should be easy pickings for Gamboa.
Gamboa definately has the goods. Once he gets his endurance up, he should move to the top 10 very quickly. He's one of the quickest fighters out there right now, and he has some pop to go with it. His defense could use a little work, but if his chin is decent, his style does suit the pros much better than it did the amateurs. OK, if you don't have the balls to do it, I'll say it - he's P4P top 20 by the end of 2009.
I saw Samuel Kebede's last fight and he looked terrible. He has been inactive for almost three years before his last fight three weeks ago. Gamboa won't have any problems taking on Kebede.
