What is the most highly skilled boxing match you've ever seen?

McCallum Curry probably is the best you could show to someone who isn't a big fan, if you are looking to get them into the sport.

It's got great skills from both fighters, lots of action, a great KO and it isn't too long.

 

Not neccessarily, I was just agreeing with McGrain's assessment. It's a good choice, though.

Then again, your friend might be put off (at least with what you're trying to present to him) by the fact that a fighter who was mastering his opponent with technical brilliance gets taken out by one swift shot. You'd just have to put it into context for him. Give him McCallum's own personal breakdown of the knockout, regardless of whether or not you think it holds much merit. Your friend won't be any the wiser.

 

Couldn't tell you just one. A few that haven't been mentioned include the first Jofre/Harada and Conteh/Saad Muhammad bouts, along with Johnson/Pastrano, though the latter is more of a pure boxing affair.

 

3 great fights. Cant beleive I forgot Johnson vs Pastrano, I love that fight.

 

For a Sanchez fight i would go with the Castillo one as most skillful.Then Cowdell.

 

Castillo vs Arguello is a very interesting and skilled match up, with a KO

 

Underrated craftsman is Castillo, though the Arguello and sanchez efforts seemed to wear him out.

Well if I was trying to take some semi-casual fans, and get them more interested in boxing I would as said avoid black and white and also look for KO endings...and probably seek out some more recognizable names and personalities:

2. Arguello-Pryor I & II
3. Leonard-Hearns I
4. Hopkins Trinidad
5. Holyfield-Dokes

Some shorter ones:
Hagler vs Minter or Hearns
Tyson vs Holmes
Ibeabucchi vs Byrd

Just watched curry mccallum. No way does mike beat tommy at 154 by decision. Mike was slow compared to curry (who was a lot smaller than mike.) and was being beaten to the punch before the 'hands down' KO. Now think of hearns,who is twice the size of curry,faster and has a 100% better jab and right hand. Granted mike is a great technician and general but his only chance is to go through hell to get to tommy,then KO him.
I dont see mike as having the skills/tools of hagler or leonard to get a conclusive stoppage....And tommy would be well motivated for mike. Maybe mike would win one out of three( inside of course) by some 'barkleyesque' anomaly.
