I scored the fight in Marvin's favor 7 rounds to 5. Leonard's flash at the end of the rounds don't make up for the first 2:30 of the round imo. Many of Ray's shots were catching Marvin's arms or just glancing shots, not many landed square. Marvin was landing the harder, cleaner shots and won the majority of more of the rounds, which is why I scored the fight in his favor. Shoe shining doesn't cut it for me.

    Thanks man.

Probably the correct choice going by all the objective criteria. This is the swing round of the fight for me, if I give it to Hagler, I call the whole thing a draw. It might be the most dynamic even round I've ever seen, even without knockdowns. :good

You have Jamie Eason in your avatar. You could post just about anything and I'd think about agreeing with it.

    Hagler.

I thought Hagler won the fight too.
But regardless, even if the judges had scored it the way I saw it and given Hagler his justice and the win, it still would have been more of a "victory" for Leonard.
(Nobody really expected Leonard to survive the fight, nevermind make it close.)
Regardless of the way you think it should be scored it should be seen as a blemish on Hagler's reputation, and a boost for Leonard's.
A rematch would have been nice though.

I thought this was the clearest round Hagler won.

Such a hard round to score. I had Leonard just pulling ever so slightly ahead going into the last minute of round 9, then i thought Hagler did enough over what was left to edge that session. Hagler just about.

I had the fight a draw.

Watching it at the time, I was screaming at the screen because when Marvin backed Ray into the corner it seemed that this Marvin's chance to win the fight. He just couldn't land enough damaging, flush shots. Once this danger passed, Ray was home free. The round is 10-9 for the Marvelous one. Fight for Ray 115 - 113

I give the 9th to Hagler, because of the damage and cleaner punches landed. But Leonard is just amazing with his flurries. Last time I watch the fight I gave it to SRL. Have to try it again -)).

Watched it again last night... it's Hagler's round.

But man, Ray showed massive heart fighting back at the pace he did after absorbing all those clean shots to the body. To be honest, my respect for SRL grows just about every time I sit down and watch his fights, he was scrappy as hell when he had to be.

I had Hagler winning the round, the 10th was a much harder round to score in my opinion. Hagler started to warm-up in the 7th and started to make a fight of it. Leonard looked flashy at the beginning of the 9th, but Hagler began getting in the far more effective punches, especially downstairs. In the 10th however was far more even as they both got in some pretty effective shots but as always Hagler was pushing the fight, till this day I have an asterick next to that round, might rewatch it momentarily.

I agree. He had the more effective aggression and landed more clean punches, all the other stuff was equal. Leonard looked slicker but looking slick is not part of how a boxing round is supposed to be scored.

To be fair to the judges only one of them was totally fooled by Leonard's flash.

Marvin looks slow as hell here compared to his prime, he really was not the same fighter. He even partially gasses out in this round, something he hardly ever did earlier in his career..

Those pitty-pat arm-punches didn't do any damage, when they landed that is.

Another question I have is which rounds people think Leonard won after the 6th? I just watched the whole fight again and I have to say I'm coming around to the "hagler won" opinion, even though it was very close.
