Cotto was never the best Welterweight at anytime in his career. Getting handed that mythical status doesn't make you the best. I've always said that he would lose to Mayweather, Margarito, Williams, Collazo, Cintron, Clottey, and maybe Berto. Several people thought he lost to Mosley as well.

He ain't done yet. He has and will fight any welter put in front of him. Cotto is entertaining and coureges.(sorry I can't spell worth ****). Is he a all time great? Probably not? Maybe so? I dont care personally because, he is entertaing to watch and posses pretty damn good boxing skills(maybe not defense though)he is durable and comes to fight. What else could u ask 4.

When he beat Shane he was the best. Regardless of who you felt won....it was close and could have gone either way. I thought Shane won but I wasn't made at the decision. Beating Shane was the PEAK of his career.

cotto was the best WW back in 2008 after he beats mosley. some would argue that floyd is but he didn't fight the best of WW then but just contented with money fights over oscar and hatton. good wins but not enough to be considered the best at least in my opinion. and when floyd retired, there was no doubt that cotto was the only man at the weight until margo beats him a couple of months later. and collazo, cintron, clottey and berto would all lose to cotto back then and even now. berto of course has been improving nicely.

Cotto's best win was over Mosley.

I think Mosley was just too cautious that night, and if they rematched, i have no doubt that Shane would be more aggressive and win that fight pretty comfortably.

I dont discredit Cotto for loosing to Margacheato

But I rank him as a B level fighter. Hes a very good fighter that i think will always be 1 step short of reaching that ELITE title.

I only put him there to prove that he didn't have this huge following of nuthuggers that people claim he has...

Ad also to prove that you can't really trust the validity of a poll that has Pac or Cotto in it. Points proven.

Wow. Got a decision that could have gone either way (NOT LUCKY AT ALL), with one ****ing eye. Beat Mosley where he showed his ability to change it up and diverse, yeah Mosley wasn't at his best, but he was still an Elite WW and has gone on to destroy Marg and is now facing Money. Show great skill in the first half of the Marg fight, before controversly getting cheated. Destroyed Zab Judah. Destroyed Carlos Quintana. Destroyed Mallignaggi. Has a whole loads of good B-C level fighters on his resume.

Some people really havn't a clue what their talking about.

He lost. What the **** do the first 6 rounds have to do with anything. You can talk about the bricks, but to talk about the first 6 rounds is ridiculous.

And I'm not talking about Mosely or Clottey. I'm talking about PW, who had just beaten Margo and was trying desperately to get a fight with Cotto, but Arum wasn't having it.

It was said by fans and media that Cotto was the best. A lot of people felt that was wrong. Being the best and being called the best are two different things. Cotto never proved he was the best and getting a decision over a past prime Mosley that most felt could have went either way can't prove it.

Cotto already lost a clear decision to Clottey and would get out boxed by Collazo. Cintron without a doubt in my mind would stop Cotto and Berto would have a great chance at stopping him as well. I won a boat load of money on Margarito when he stopped Cotto. I don't even bet on boxing, but that was obviously going to happen for anyone willing to pay attention. So to say Cotto was ever the best is a joke.
