So? And btw... Jones wouldn't do an MMA match. Jones was only interested in having Silva fight him under boxing rules. I really wouldn't have seen the point in that. Boxing is just one small aspect of MMA... the fight would make much mores sense under MMA rules where Roy would have a chance to prove that his boxing would win out against Silva's MMA.
not really, seriously what do you suppose he should have done? james toney has been pleading, literally begging on his hands and knees for a fight in the UFC for months and was calling dana a ***** etc, if dana refused then all the boxers/boxing fans would call him a *****, now that he finally agrees to give toney a shot he's suddenly a hypocrite? Now dana does and says a lot of stupid things that I don't agree with but I have to back him up on this one.
Back him up for what. Mercer v Sylvia was MMA rules and Dana **** all over it. His always criticising Japanese promotions for freakshow fights. I have no issue with a boxer going to MMA. However when the # 1 MMA org is signing an old overweight has been desperate for a pay day I say thats BS.
" hurr I'm a boxing fan so I can talk all the **** I like about it and not be wrong" you don't see a problem with people being a two-faced lying sacks of ****?
as if i needed any more reason to hate the guy. dude is a walking/talking/breathing ufc hype machine of course hes gonna be a hypocrite.
If you have a problem with people being liars, You should probably not watch any sport since every promoter, owner and manager is a compulsive liar in some capacity. Dana White is no different than any other guy who's been successful in this kind of business. He knows when to feed you what you want to hear, has no problem lying to your face and ultimately knows how to sniff out a good deal. There's no downside to this for him. He's going to make a killing.
when you say "so?" it implies that you have no problem with something. Many promoters are lairs, though few are so blatant assholes.
I honestly don't see the big deal. I also don't see why people are surprised when the promoter of the UFC downgrades fighters and fights outside that aren't under the banner of his promotional company and promotes fights that are under his promotional company. That's his job. What is surprising about that? Why does it need to be pointed out every time that it happens? Just like Oscar De La Hoya and Bob Arum saying on about 100 different occasions that they will never co-promote another fight again... and then doing it. Or Don King and Bob Arum doing the same thing a couple hundred times. Promoters are supposed to promote their fighters and their fights... and of course sometimes they are going to say and do things that are contradicting of what they have said or done before. It's basically like calling a former lawyer a hypocrite for defending a murderer at one trial, and then being the attorney and prosecuting a murderer in another trial. It's their job. Besides all of that... I don't even think this fits the bill of what you were saying anyways. I pointed it out clearly in my post, but you ignored and cut out that part.
More like most people understand the way this thing works. Promoters are liars, cheats, cut throats and assholes. That's why they're successful and rich.
Seriously Widdow your not stupid. Wipe the crap from your eyes and see this situation for what it is. Its beyond a joke.
