Manny is listed at -800 while the "so-black-yet-he's-not" Ghanaian is pegged at +500. As this fight draws near I see two likely scenarios: a repeat of the Cotto fight for Manny, or Joshua pulls the "Buster Douglas." I suspect this line is going to get even juicier as the Pacquiao money pours in. What do you guys think about these odds? Is Clottey that much of a 'dog? He is going to come into the fight at least 160-165, he is durable, has a solid defense, and IMO underrated foot speed/movement. His big glaring knock is his low punch output, and this I feel will be the determinant factor in his undoing. I recall against Judah, Corrales (RIP), and Margarito (until he hurt his hands) he threw a bit more shots...maybe the event will bring out the best in him. Discuss...
Pac is a horrible style matchup for Clottey. He doesn't have the one punch power to knock out Manny. He doesn't throw punches while the other guy is throwing at him. He takes rounds off. I can see him being a spoiler, making Pacquiao look less than spectacular and even winning a few rounds, but I have a lot of trouble seeing him actually win.
I agree. If Bob arum was really as savvy a businessman as we think, he would have put this on free HBO if for nothing else, to Pacquiao's name out to their a broader audience. The dis-interest for this fight disturbs me. We still get 20 threads a day about Pacquiao-Mayweather, but only 2 or 3 a day on the actual guy Pacquiao is fight next? Wow.
