Saw Roy and Lewis for the first time at Seol, Saw future ATG glory for Roy but didn't see the same for Lewis, both exceeded my expectations.

Was it the same circumstances as myself MR, in that RJJ filled the void left by Tyson 91-95 and that by the time Tyson got back it was too late?

Cotto is one of my favorites. To me he is the definition of professional fighter. Always in shape, always willing to mix it up, incredibly skilled.

mine is pacquiao too. always like the way he fight. my first time seeing him was on the tyson-lewis undercard, but i became a big fan when he came to sf bay area for promotional reasons. he took so many pictures, and signed so many autographs he almost missed his flight. he came three times, and after the first time he saw me, he remembered me the second and third time, and that pretty much won me over.

honorable mentions: shane mosley, andre ward, glen johnson.

    I have several favorite fighters.

Sugar Shane Mosley won me over with his brilliant performance against Oscar De La Hoya in their first fight.

Bernard Hopkins won me over when he dismantled Trinidad.

Kelly Pavlik impressed me with his toe to toe brawl against the brutal slugger Miranda.

David Haye won me over when he walked up to Wladimir Klitschko and challenged him in public.

Manny Pacquiao won me over with his utter destruction of Marco Antonio Barrera.

That was the first time I saw Pacquio too and he was incredible. I remember Emmanuel Steward later commenting that Pacquiao would beat Barrera - and I thought - "yeah, right." Little did I know. . .

Ray Robinson became my favorite fighter after I saw him KO opponent after opponent without making mistakes.

THIS is a good thread. THIS is what we should be talking about here. Not continually arguing about Manny and PBF.

wasn't pac a substitute fighter in that event? i remember there was one fight where he was a late opponent and it was a title fight. i thought pac was exciting on the lewis-tyson undercard but i never imagined he'd be the superstar he is today. i just figured he'd be someone boxing nerds would know in the lower weight classes like vic darchynian, or jorge arece, israel vasquez. however, after he beat mab i remember telling people at the bar that he and mayweather (pbf was fighting @ 135 at that time)should fight. most people either thought i was on crack or i was dropped on my head when i was a baby. well, what's the most talked about fight right now/

1.ROBERTO DURAN could finish like no one else.Once his man was in trouble,he was like a surgeon on acid. The first time I saw him was in about 1970 when he finished off an opponent in his own inimitable style.I was hooked forever.
2.MARVIN HAGLER was a fighter's fighter.Avoided like the plague in the mid-late 70's by guys like Hugo Corro and excluded from the Middleweight Championship Tournament by Don King and Cus D'Amato, when he finally got his shot and destroyed Alan Minter(people forget Minter pre-dated Hopkins when he said,"No black man will ever take my title".He was right.Marvin ripped it from his throat),chills went up and down my spine.Too bad a bunch of ignoramuses tried to hit Marvin on the head with full beer cans.
3.MUHAMMED ALI is the most compelling figure in the history of sport. In the 70's-90's,he was probably the most recognizable man on earth and I'd wager he remains so.Even in his losing effort against (my no4) Joe Frazier,in '71 after his exile from boxing, there still has never been a boxing event quite like that one from 2 such great heavyweights close to their primes.

my dad had a body shop in philly and joe frazier would come to his holiday parties about 10 years ago. i was only 8 or 9 at the time and had no idea who he was but when my dad showed me the first ali fight, i wanted to start boxing. he used to take me to a PAL gym to train and he would bust the coach's up bobbing and weaving and throwing left hooks like frazier.

    Muhammad Ali.

I didn't understand the reason for his fame and impact until I saw "when we were kings" and then researched him all the time since.

PAc-I never heard of him before and boxing is not mainstream in OZ and you rarely get the coverage we enjoy now. I was on the net chatting and some dude had a live audio of the fight.I was like who the hell is Manny Pacquiao? then I heard Philipppines, Mehiko! I was like "whoa" this is epic. I finally saw the replay and I was sorta like wtf, this kid got power but no skillz he is ugly to watch very awkward and off balance but he has a lot stamina and heart.I started to follow him then and he has improved with the grace of magic juice and cochroach as a trainer.God bless him.
