Roy Jones was a great athlete in his prime, but SRR would have torn him to shreds

    :lol:Can't argue with that logic.

However, the initial assessment isn't a bad one. Turpin pulled off the upset in the first fight, only to be stopped in the rematch. I don't doubt Jones could do something similar with the correct gameplan, I just don't think it'd happen more often than not with a fighter of Robinson's adaptability.

I'd pick Roy Jones by UD.

As much as I respect SRR, Jones was too big for him. Jones at his prime at 160 and 168 was a monster. Cat like reflexes, let me correct myself - superhuman reflexes and elite power. Jones by either a convincing UD or TKO.

there are several fighters from 160-175 in History that would have torn Roy to shreds.

No one tares RJJ to shreds... beat him, yes, but none of that Rico. At least try to look at the man for his skill and talent.

The thing was, it was agreed by most spectators there that SRR was losing a close fight in the 2nd match, until he caught Turpin.

RJJ is a better all-round fighter than Turpin, so I'd have to imagine RJJ by UD at the very least.

James toney certainly couldve foguth as often if fights were available as often, modern pros like barerra and toney fought as much as pro possibly could these days

Bob Foster would have went through Glass Jaw Roy like a knife through butter. This is just one example.

RJJ would knock him the **** out from middleweight on up. Foster would be a much more dangerous fight for Roy.

SRR has a decent chance if it's at MW with same day weigh-in.

Otherwise, Jones is coming in between 170 and 175.

Size is not the only criterion here but it is one of them.

Roy has the edge in speed and power, and I would give him the overall nod here.

He had enough durability to deal with and defeat a heavyweight champ, and you think he can't take a natural welterweight's punches? RJJ's chin was fine until he came back down from HW, he just seemed to lose EVERYTHING at that point. He was never even hurt. You guys act like RJJ went his entire, legendary career without EVER getting hit on the chin. Nobody does that, not even RJJ.

p4p: Robinson - ok, I can agree with that.

h2h: RJJ, all day. Just as quick, hits much harder and he would look HUGE against Robinson.

Exactly RJJ was a shadow of himself after he came back down from heavyweight.
