Floyd's haters love to discredit floyd by: 1) says he fight over the hill guys. - did people forget that floyd dived right into his career and fought risky fights when he was just a prospect? In his 18th fight he fought for the WBC champ. How many fighters move this quickly? They were rushing his career. He fought Jesus Chavez, angel manfreddy, Carlos hendraz, Corrales, Corely, Castillo 2x, Judah, Hatton were all peaking. Floyd was a rookie champ at 130. Chavez, Hendraz, corely went on and become champs. And Corrales, Castillo, Judah, and Hatton were champs. 2) says he fight small guys. - only notable win over someone smaller was marquez, Hatton fought at 140 and went up to 147 and walks around a light heavy doesn't count. 3) fought easy fights. - Corrales, Castillo, Oscar, Judah, Hatton, Marquez were all on the p4p list when floyd fought them. So how were they easy? 4) Floyd cherrypicks. - which top elite fighter doesn't. Floyd fought All of the guys mention above on the upside of their career and even shane right now is up side. Nobody questions Pac's cherrypickings when Pac fought morales who got upset by raheem, barrera was out of prime, oscar who lost to floyd and moving down in weight, Hatton after he got ktfo by floyd. and clottey just lost to cotto (which I thought clottey won). most of pac's fights are pair against people who are on the downside of career. The double standards is quite ridiculous. :deal
I am not going to debate the whole PBF thing. I just want to comment on your logic. Being in the P4P list has nothing to do if the opponent will be difficult or not for a given fighter. Pac can fight Chris John tomorrow at 140. Would that be a hard fight for Pac? No disrespect to John but was just trying to make a point.
The ones that say he fights smaller guys are Margarito fans, as ironic as it looks. Yeah, Margarito, the one who made a career calling out, cheating and losing to guys half his size. Regarding Mayweather, how can he make a career moving up successfully in weight, winning titles in 5 different divisions(lineal in 3) fighting smaller guys?
I had this EXACT SAME ARGUMENT last year...Been there, done that, even bought a T-Shirt and I'm never going back for a visit. At least not with The ESB Posters. They don't seem to understand nor comprehend Common Sense and Logic. Good Luck Though...you make a good argument.
Oscar and Judah were on the p4p list when they fought Floyd? you got a source for that cause I doubt it. Hatton and Marquez were on the p4p list but that was when they were at 140 and 135, respectively. If they fought at WW all the time, they would have dropped off the p4p list in no time. that's not hating, just telling it like I see it, cause there's too many double standards on this board
Marquez was a smaller man, no argument there. But Hatton was a big time weight cutter who showed up on fight night in the 150's while Floyd was fighting a WW weighing in on fight night between 147-149. Hatton was the same size but he was used to fighting weaker and less skilled opponents at Jr. WW. For people who say Floyd fights little guys, what's the explanation for the other 38 fights he fought?
hey man I'm not saying that Hatton was not a big time weight cutter. What I'm saying is that Hatton was inside the top10 p4p list because of how good he was 140. For some reason he was able to cut down to 140 and be stronger than other fighters who are able to cut down to 140. He even outmuscled Urango who is a strong dude at that weight. At 147, he didn't have that strength advantage, and because of that he was kind of weak. I'd say about as good as Collazo as evidenced by their fight. Definately not a top10 worthy fighter. Also, like I said above I really doubt either Oscar or Judah were in the top10 p4p list when they fought Floyd. Someone would have to provide a source on that.
I've got no hassle with Floyds career till he moved up from 135lbs-where he totally dominated----- but the only worthy apponents he fought after moving up were -- Oscar & Zab ---- Corley-Bruseles -Gatti - Mitchell - Baldomir - & Hatton-----all B class :smoke:smoke and dont give me that **** about hindsight...
I understand what you're saying... but Collazo is no slouch and Hatton did win even though he got lucky to some degree. What Im saying is that out of 40 fights, only in the marquez fight was mayweather clearly the bigger man yet people constantly say stupid **** about him only liking to fight smaller opponents even ignoring his previous 39 fights where he was either the same size or smaller.
So let me ask you this Ph|lla. Do you give floyd credit for beating Oscar,Hatton, and JMM??? a simple Yes or No would be great.
Preach my man, preach. Haters always give passes to the people they love for the same bull**** that they give praise to the people they hate for. haters are the biggest contradictory idiots ever. And especially floyd haters.
Hatton was undefeated flatout. Anytime you beat an undefeated fighter especially when he is like 40-0 is a huge ****ing deal. Cause the first person to beat floyd and take away his 40-0 is going to given the utmost credit. PERIOD!!!!
Ditto. When thinking of Mayweather I think of that old early 90s R&B song, "What have you done for me lately?"
