Fight will be aired on HBO and will be contested at 147. Bradley to return to 140 afterwards apparently.
Why? What a pointless stay-busy fight. At Welter? Who knows, maybe this guy is a dangerous as his record would indicate. I doubt it though...
Abregu is chinny with a leaky defense. But he's extremely resilient, and throws awkward, powerful punches from weird angles. Considering Bradley is a natural junior welterweight with little pop, I think it's a fairly interesting match up.
I'd rather he fight a guy like Kotelnik who would probably love another chance at the spotlight or rematch Nate Campbell. not many options for Bradley with Alexander setting up to fight Judah, Marquez wanting Hatton, Khan - Malignaggi... Actually I hope that Hatton really does retire and that Marquez fights Bradley
Yeah, think I've seen em once before. Like I say though, a bad idea for a stay busy fight from a promoter standpoint. Not that I know anything about that stuff anyway. Could be an unnecessary risk.
I've never seen Abregu fight, but from your description, it's should be a good fight. It'd be interesting to see how Bradley looks at 147, and against another tall, powerful fighter.
Yep...I said this in a thread awhile ago. Timothy Bradley being the TOP FIGHTER at 140lbs...HANDS DOWN. And the "So-Called" big names at 140lbs (Khan, Maidana, Ortiz, Cayo, JMM, Pacquiao will all rather and will eventually fight "other" fighters. While Bradley will fight middle of the pack 140lbs fighters or move up to 147lbs. And after fighting a series of these "Middle of the pack" or no-name fighters...he will eventually be called A DUCKER!!! Does this sound familiar? Hmmm There was a fighter at 147lbs that no-one wanted to fight, yet once he start fighting Judah, Baldomir and Hatton...He was called a DUCKER!!! WOW THIS ALL SOUNDS FAMILIAR???
And all you do is use profanity, insults and name-calling like an 8 year old who just got his candy taken in a grammar school playgorund. I would much rather be labeled a "Complainer" than An Uneducated Juvenile *****!!! Grow-up!!!
If nothing else, at least Bradley gets a chance to expand his fan base with an appearance on HBO. It also helps to promote an eventual showdown against one of the big names at JWW.
