I would have loved to see this one. I'd favor Forrest by a little bit.

Good fight. Vernon would win in my opinion. His jab was equally as good or better than Wrights but he threw a more wide array of power shots.
    Vernon comfortable UD.

Vernon Forrest fought his prime years at the welter limit while Winky Wright fought at LMW and MW. A bit of a miss match, at LMW, I'd go with Winky for sure.

One of the great fights that never happened. Vernon was the bigger puncher, had a great jab, uppercut, but he could be lured into fights or toe to toe exchanges alot like Erik Morales and it's visible in his fights with Mayorga. I think Forrest was a much better WW than JM. I like both, but I'd have to give the edge to Winky. Winky was not a fighter with a high punch output either, but had a style where he would always come forward, which is kinda rare for being a defensive fighter and a fighter not exactly known for being a powerpuncher. I think Winky would force Vernon to either fight toe to toe or start pushing Forrest backwards, tiring him at some point. I wouldn't rule out a draw, but a prime Winky would take anyone's best shots and come back with a 4,5,6 punch combination enough to keep any fighter humble. I like Winky by a SD in an exciting fight.

    Winky. No doubts.
Winky was past his prime when he was beating Mosely and losing a decision to the bigger Hopkins in a fight some felt could have gone his way.
Vernon was good but I think Wright was that bit better

In a battle of jabbers, I tend to favour southpaws. Both were very able, but it's very hard to out-jab a southpaw, especially one as talented as Winky.

I favour Winky by close but fair decision.
