natural WW deprives themselves to starvation a day or two before the weigh-in, Pac ate 5 meals on weigh-in nights just to atleast make 138 (hatton fight) to 145 (for WW). Heck, his height and reach are like natural super featherweight.
Floyd weighed in at 146 and rehydrated to 152 on fightnight. Pac weighed in at 144 and rehydrated to around 148 on fightnight. Floyd is not big for a welter, Pac is not even a welter.
I don't buy that number from ring magazine. I've looked for a supporting source from somewhere else but found none.
Well, if your only criteria is the scales, genius, then Odlanier Solis is significantly bigger than Vitali Klitschko.
He is not he has to break his neck to make 147, he has to intake so many calories to get to the wieght, Clottey a natural Welterweight probably eats next to nothing 7 days leading upto the fight.
Can't reason why some people find it hard to grasp the fact that... Mayweather's just the bigger guy. There's no discredit to Floyd in saying that, it's just stating the painfully obvious truth. Floyd is 5'8", he started his professional career at 130. Manny's 5'6.1/2" and he started his professional career at 106. Floyd is bigger on the shoulders too... outreaches Manny by 5 inches. Considering the single inch difference in arm length, one can only deduce that... Mayweather is that much broder (3 inches) than Pacquiao. So... yes, Floyd's the bigger guy. He is the bigger guy. Weighs more. Is a solid welter. That doesn't take anything away from Floyd. It's just stating facts.
I think the reason why people are arguing this is because both guy's fans have an agenda. Pac Fans Agenda ( If Pac wins they want to be able to make the win seem even greater then what it would be by claiming that Pac was the little guy and therefore what he did was so much more spectacular. If Pac loses then they want to be able to make the excuse that he was too small and was really a Jr. WW.) Floyd Fans ( Are trying to preserve credit for Floyd, becasue they can already see the excuses coming after a Floyd Win, about Floyd being bigger and that he was supposed to win.) I don't really see the point. Bottom line Pac weighs over 141, and that's all it takes to be a "true welterweight". The guys are in the same weight class so there are no excuses. Just like Floyd was 2 or 3 inches shorter than DLH, and only weighed in at 150, for pounds under the limit. Nonethless he was a Jr. MW that night and there were are excuses. Oh yeah and FYI, Pac started his pro career at a younger age then Floyd. They both weighed 106 when they were 16 except Floyd was an amateur at that age.
please stop with this bull**** if he eats 5 meals before the weigh in and then comes in 5 pounds heavier on fight night then how many meals did he have before the fight? 10? get off the guys dick
Im not sure what we call true weight classes anymore with weigh ins being the day before. My opinion is if you can make the weight then you are considered to be real in that class. For example if you train down and get to 147 for the weigh in and then rehydrate by 10+ Lbs for fight night you are still a welter right? Ala Joshua Clottey! Or you have the opposite in Manny Pacquaio who has to eat 5 times per day and however many calories to put on the required weight but he makes it he is a welter weight right?
