Im a big Gatti fan, but Vargas gets the nod in this one. I would have loved to see them fight each other though.
Fernando was on a higher level with skills and could also be a blood and guts warrior, but Arturo was THE blood and guts warrior. Fernando had the better wins, Arturo had the better highlights.
Vargas was 'ruined' (he still had a very good career) by fast exposure. Gatti was 'ruined' by moving up in weight, when he needn't really have done that. Gatti's talent is overlooked, he was talented, maybe not elite talented but still talented enough to establish himself as a top fighter. Vargas was elite talented, just... not managed as well as he could have been. Vargas takes it. On heart though, there will always be one winner when matching with Gatti.
