Hearns would slaughter the entire welterweight and junior middleweight divisions today. I love how much talent is in Welterweight right now, and I'm a huge fan of both Pacquiao and Mosley, but they would get their asses kicked by Tommy. So would Cotto, Floyd, Clottey, and Margarito. Jr. Middle doesn't have anyone that would give him much of a problem. Yes, that's including Paul Williams. If Sergio Martinez can effectively counter Williams and put him on his ass, Tommy would knock him the **** out. Middleweight is a little riskier, if only because at that weight Tommy started showing more vulnerability to punches and single shots. He should beat them all, but there's a better chance that someone will get lucky.
Depending how Pavlik does against Martinez, I'm inclined to give him a solid chance at beating Hearns. Otherwise... people may call me crazy, but I'd give Paul Williams a decent chance as well. Sure, Paul Williams gets hit, sure Paul Williams can get knocked down, but... Paul Williams could certainly win a decision against Hearns. With his stature and skill, I'd say Paul Williams has the potential to beat any of the well known retired/non retired WW/SMW fighters to date.
Hearns and Leonard both started at welter!they were much bigger and stronger than crack head Jr, with the same speed .Jr stopped.
How is PW going to win a decision over Hearns? By outboxing him? By outworking him? If he tries either, he gets knocked the hell out because he's way to open defensively and makes a ton of fundamental mistakes. Remember that Hearns was comfortably beating SRL through 12 rounds and was clearly outboxing him - a man who was 10x harder to outbox than Williams. There's a long list of WWs and junior middles throughout boxing history who would beat Williams. A LONG list.
Remember reading in 4 Kings that according to Manny Steward Hearns had plenty of money and bought a new Bentley every year?
:rofl @ these guys thinking that Pavlik would have a chance against Hearns. No one from today would stand a chance from 147-160.
Hearns would give a floyd a serious Beating in my opinion,The size difference is just too great,I dont see Hearns having any problems at all with Floyd
Are you kidding??? Hearns would beat Shane like a ****in 50-cent hooker.. There is no aspect of Hearns style that would leave any opening for Shane to have the slightest chance at winning. He's tall, has a great jab, great movement, handspeed, a solid chin at 147 (only stopped once in the 14th by the greatest WW ever).. Not to mention he has a Nuclear warhead in his right hand. And Floyd ain't gettin nowhere close to that right hand. He would stay clear the **** away from Hearns.
This load of **** post right here just shows how overrated Williams is,the guy got outboxed by Quintana, arguably lost to Martinez but he would beat an ATG like Hearns, ffs think before you post. Theres nothing Williams can do that Hearns cant do much better,Hearns doesnt just beat him he almost kills him.
This really goes to show how special Marvin Hagler and Sugar Ray Leonard really were. Heck, it shows how good Wilfredo Benitez is too, for going 12 rounds with him!
