I did, B. I saw it at a bar down the street. Fluke of all flukes they somehow carried it. Place was crawling with Flipino's.
I was expecting nothing less really from Clottey or the under-card (with the exception of Soto Vs. Diaz which i thought was fairly good.). What really made me laugh is at the end when they were waiting for the scorecards to be read out. Arum walked over to Clottey and said - "Great fight Joshua!" I spat my pissing beer all over the place when I heard him come out with that belter, what a ****.
This is about the only sensible post fight thread I've seen. Clottey's style was tailor made for Pacquiao from the beginning. Roach knew it, Arum knew it. I am not in the least bit surprised, and am sickened by the Pacquiao dicksucking that is occurring as a result of it. Clottey's only chance to beat Pacman was to not be Joshua Clottey. He never did or ever could have the workrate to keep pace with Pacquiao. This was by no means a transcendent performance by Pacquiao, just another setup. The only thing impressive about Pacquiao was him throwing 100 punches a round without breathing hard.
Arum can't be blamed for what took place in the ring.... The Duddy fight was supposed to be a easy win for him, but turned out to be a tougher test, not the best fight ever, but it had some good action, and putting Castillo against Gomez who is not very good, could have turned out to be a good fight, but Castillo was more washed up than anticipated.... You said you liked the Soto-Diaz fight, and we all knew Clottey had a low out put, but no one expected him to not throw at all... True it turned out to be a shitty night altogether, but the match ups looked promising to begin with... Besides, it was just 55 dollars, big deal...
I figured you'd cave in and watch it live but I don't blame you if you wish you hadn't. Then again, if there were any half decent Pinays at the bar in celebration mode, perhaps watching a one-on-bum fight was worth your while.
Amen. There were indeed. I was highly impressed. Wish I had the wingmen to give me entree, but I was solo.
Many people expected many of the things you said they did not expect. Specifically many people expected Castillo to be old and washed up, many people expected Duddy to be a bum, and many people expected Clottey to be utterly unwilling to put anything on the line. Feel free to check the forum history to find exactly those sentiments.
thanks mate. I'm just really pissed right now. To the posters that I argued with that said they won't be buying the fight. Boy was I wrong. I'll man up. You guys saved yourselves 50 bucks.
Bull****, everyone knew the undercard would be dog****. Even if the fights were somewhat entertaining, which they really weren't, their implications were jack ****. At least one of the undercard matches with an already iffy headliner ought to be between a couple of current contenders. (No, David Diaz does not count.)
I think they were in awe at being in such an awesome arena. But you're right, they were probably bored outta their mind.
