HBO is a Joke

    answer me this? before this fight was made it was widely believed clottey basically had a punchers chance. it was widely understood his work rate wasn't high enough and he didnt possess the punching power to stop pacman. yet in still the 3 stooges (lampley, steward, kellerman) somehow failed to adress this all night. they were calling this fight as if clottey had beat cotto. as if clottey had beat margarito, as if this wasnt exactly what was predicted when the fight was made. the way clottey fought this fight is EXACTLY WHY he got the fight in the first place. he doesnt punch enough, and when he does his arsenal is limited. anyone who knows anything about clottey knows this. i do believe boxing could use positive press. what i dont subscribe to is selling the sport at all costs. journalism that lacks perspective is not journalism. its propoganda.

    HBO has always been terrible,Merchant's delivery sounds like he is on his death bed struggling to get his last word's out,Kellerman is annoying,Lewis doesnt seem very bright and Lampley is so biased towards certain fighters,the best Boxing Commentator in the world is Sky's Ian Darke..

    What are they suppose to say . . . clottey has never stepped up and beat a top guy? How would this draw the crowd in or maintain interest? they have to sell the fight while it is on to make it compelling so fans do not tune out! but to be honest there was never much to work with in the first place. this was just a showcase fight for pac

    Steward and Lampley are emotional dickriders. Kellerman at least has some level of objectivity.

    i would prefer they call the fight. play by play, blow by blow. i dont need any historical references of a fighters greatness when hes fighting a tomato can. but your point is noted.

    Lampley has been shown time and time again to be nothing but a weed smoking, nutrider on the HBO house fighter.

    i've seen several complaints of this even on HBO's own boxing boards through the years. So IMO, I believe HBO PURPOSELY keeps these guys on because it keeps us talking about them (sadly) hoping something will change.

    I'll take these guys anyday of those Annoying *******s at HBO. Hell I even like Antonio Tarver. Now with that being said. HBO 24/7, the writing and narration of that program is TOP-NOTCH!!!!
