Pacquiao is like Rufio from the film Hook, and Mayweather is like Smee. Both right hand men, one is a warrior, one is a coward. Or maybe Pacquaio is Peter Pan, Shane Mosley is Rufio and Mayweather is Hook. We'll see
Who is your fighter? It's Pacquiao for me. Floyd is a lesser fighter compared to Pacquiao. Floyd is more of a boxer/runner than a fighter.
I used to think Floyd would cruise to a decision win over Pac. But Pac's recent performances lead me to think otherwise. Can Floyd really dodge and potshot his way to victory over Manny who: 1. matches Floyd with speed 2. shows he can throw over 100 punches a round, mostly power shots, for 12 rounds 3. is a southpaw and can render Floyd's shoulder roll useless 4. has shown he has a granite chin and won't get hurt by Floyd's brittle hands 5. never ever gets tired and can probably fight 24 rounds if needed 6. has shown he can really hurt legit welters with decent power 7. has an unorthodox style along with great footwork Thru 8 rounds, Floyd was even with a slow 34 year old boxing promoter who didn't use his size advantage. Note to all: Manny Pacquiao is not a slow 34 year old boxing promoter.
I voted for floyd even though I am a huge fan of both guys. I knew PBF would lose any popularity contest so I thought I would try to balance things out. Unlike, others I like Floyd's persona more than Manny's. For me respectful, soft spoken, religious . . . etc = boring. Hell boxing does not need a Pope. Floyd is a loose cannon and that always makes things interesting, I love it how he breathes and all of his haters will jump all over him.
Pac...exciting style, typical protagonist image ( who is not American, no offense!), Something new for Asians. Happiest ring entrances, full of flaws in his game which really makes rooting for him more exciting because he can lose anytime and he is threading on dangerous waters at Welter. Floyd... master boxer, great defense (sometimes too cautious for me), terrible personality, gangsta wannabe, left his greatness at lightweight. Good that he's fighting Mosely now...well better late than never. Floyd may very well have all the physical advantages, but he knows Pac can beat him.
Don't get me wrong I can appreciate boxer skills. I would like to watch bouts like that only a few times lol. My staple preference are great action-packed fights.
Although Floyd oozes class in the ring if I only had money to watch one of them fight it'd be Pac. He brings it every time and likes to please the fans. However, he's become superman at these higher weights and I'd like to know how he's done it - usually it's the other way around. If they ever fight I go with Floyd - he can match Pac for speed fitness and skill but has a better defence and I think would really move through the gears once Pac pressures him. Hope we get to see it!
I like both. I prefer watching Floyd because I think he is an absolute genius in the ring, and anyone who disagrees with that statement needs to watch more boxing. However, I can happily sit there on the edge of my seat watching Pacquiao go about his business. The guy is just about offense. Trying to knock every guy out who he comes across. Personality wise, I couldn't care less! I don't see the point in judging a boxer by his personality like many people do on this forum. A boxers job is to fight, if they became famous for having a good/bad personality then fair enough, but they didn't. In terms of resume, Pacquiao edges it. Mayweather is let down by his opposition at 147lbs, but seems to be making up for that against Mosley. If Mayweather had Morales and Barrera on his resume, then maybe his quality of past opposition wouldn't regularly be dismissed on this forum. Mayweather v Pacquiao - I see Pacquiao giving Mayweather trouble in the early rounds with his speed, Mayweather hasn't fought anyone with the speed of Pacquiao in a long time. However, I think Mayweather will figure him out fairly swiftly, and pull out a UD. I don't think Pacquiao has the in-ring intelligence to change strategies mid-fight, even though Roach will be in his ear telling him to. I can possibly see Pacquiao resorting back to his usual self and go all out attack, with Mayweather picking him off all night. In my opinion anyway.
