It goes both ways. Neither fighter was in his prime, but I can admit that Pacquiao was closer to going into his prime than Morales was away from his.

Cotto - got chin checked by margo already with plaster gloves. damaged goods at that point. He already had a weak chin anyways. I had sugar winning in their fight, and lets not forget that chop chop nearly had him out. he was tailor made for pacman or any southpaw with a punch for that matter. (remember against judah? oh you forgot the low blows when he was almost out? yeah thought so)

Clottey - cmon man. You got 2 top rank fighters on the same card. Clottey got paid to throw the fight. That is clear as day. I even called this before the fight happened and I will pull it up if you want.

So what this comes down to is, if a prime morales fought the above in the same circumstances, he would beat them all down too. I love how people all of a sudden think pacman got better. He looks actually worse. He is still susceptible to the jab. He is still susceptible to uppercuts. Right hands still land on him.

And I love your comment on pacman being green. ****ing green. I didnt know you had to be ****ing green to beat barrerea, and then marquez back to back like that (yes pacman won the first fight). I think you are forgetting what a beast marquez was at that division back then.

 

I rank the pacquiao-morales 2, quite high for pacquiao imho....However, the 3rd fight, roach insisted on the fight being at 130, when team morales wanted 135, its a joke fight....

While they waited 4 years till facing marquez again...Who was already borderline past his best in the second marquez-pacquiao fight....

 

What I understand is that pacquiao clearly knocked out morales twice, finishing their trilogy. Nothing more than that. There is no unfinished business between them.
Pacquiao put an end to morales' career.

 

i disagree. pac was green on EM-PAC 1. This should not be the basis of comparing "prime for prime".

 

I thought Morales was on the decline even in the first Pac fight and pulled out his final great performance. Someone said he nearly got KOed ... but anyone who has watched that fight properly knows his stance switch in the last was pure entertainment. Just check the post-fight interview 'Did you like that?'

Watch Barrera Morales 3. Morales is not the same fighter as the first two fights. He still performs at a level that reflects his boxing abilities .. but just a hint of the famous morales fire was missing.

Pac is a legendary fighter who has performed amazingly since the Morales trilogy and certainly added to his boxing arsenal and has improved his technique. That said, I would never say Morales couldn't beat him, prime for prime, around the 120-126 mark.

I can watch both fighters all day. They are warriors and I don't really care who is better.
