Why the **** is the thread titled 'The is J Calzahje am ATG thread question'?

Basically, if he DID fight Jones in his prime he woulda got starched. End of thread.

There was a thread called 'is Calzaghe an ATG', which I couldnt answer either way, so I started this thread asking the questions to people based on that yes or no thread answer as to who besides maybe Jones who was in the division above, who did Calzaghe not fight?
To say he would have got starched by Jones or he would have beaten Jones is guess work. I wouldnt be shocked if Calzaghe would have beaten Jones, but like you cant say for sure. Jones always sadly now has the PEDs cloud hanging over him. But like as said Jones was in the division above and fighting at HW before Calzaghe even beat Mitchell

I dont think this is true.

Beating Pavlik has turned Hopkins into a demi-god in some peoples' minds. It would have been a great feather in Joe's cap if he could have picked off Pavlik, lets not forget the aura surrounding Pavlik before the Hopkins fight.

It would have rounded off his last 3 fights very well, and I think elevated him to a much higher status.

Maybe, but have you seen the people Pavliks defended against, with Hopkins he always gets alot of aclaim, but with Calzaghe im sure it would be said Pavlik is overated

Fair enough, agree to disagreee, but I think it would have been a huge finish to his career.

He was at his biggest level ever after beating Kessler to become unified king of SMW. He then beat Hopkins, the champ at LHW, but people were saying it was close and Hopkins was old. If he had taken on this younger banger who people thought was invincible, imagine the acclaim.

Instead after people were criticizing him for being in a close fight with a really old fighter, he then took a final fight against an ancient opponent (he was younger than Hopkins, but Jones has aged like milk in the sun). That fight was a shambles from the get go and really left a sour taste on his career IMO.

I see what your saying, but with Pavliks poor title defences, I cant really say not fighting a fighter who at that time was 2 divisions lighter and with only one good name on his record really improves his legacy and he holds the win over the fighter who beat Pavlik

Joe was prepared to fight Jones in America, but Jones demanded too much money. You should watch the Calzaghe documentary "Not your average Joe" where Warren talks about it.

There is also a video interview someone found and posted a while back of Joe saying he wouldn't fight Jones unless offered the Crown Jewels.

He is the best 168 lber to put on the gloves but not an ATG probably top 100 maybe top 50 he had the skill set just not the opponents not all his fault just the way things work out. If he stays retired 46-0 is a nice looking record.

He tried to fight Hopkins at least 3 times around 2003, Jones and Taylor priced themselves out of fights as well. How did he duck Darius at lhw, did Darius call him out?

If I could be bothered to make a list he would most probably be around the ATG 95-110 region

But after you put in your autobiography that you will never fight the guy because he is shot? Not the best timing on his part now was it? :think
