Yeah good interview. Makes a change from the usual, 'my fighters going to knock him out in__ rounds.'
Richardson's a smart guy. I'm rooting for Shane, so I'm a little troubled. It didn't sound like he thinks Shane, at this age, can beat Floyd.
I like to hear Nazim talk about boxing, he doesn't say the run of the mill things so many trainers in the sport do today, and he clearly respects Mosleys opponent. One thing about Nazim Richardson is that he gets a lot of acclaim as a great trainer but in actual fact he's really there for gameplan/tactics purposes rather than as an out and out trainer. When you think about it his 2 fighters in Bernard Hopkins and Shane Mosley are 2 boxers that you really cant teach that much more too, and really don't rely on anyone to train because they've done it so many times before.
Cool interview, it's always good to hear him speak. He always has great lines too, "You dont throw away a Cadillac cause it's got a dent in it"
If richardson guides Mosley to this win, he should get trainer of the year. Well, this and the jones hopkins fight.
I really like this brother. I like the way that he conducts himself. It's a shame that Floyd is going to make his fighter look 48 instead of 38.
richardson knows his boxing, he knows floyd is a special boxer. personally, if i was a trainer then preparing my fighter to fight someone like floyd who is a slick boxer, but is also so good on the ropes, it'll be a nightmare for a trainer to prepare against that. most slick boxers you would say you'll have to close the ring down, but with floyd, not only do you have to close the ring down, but you also have to be careful when he's on the ropes aswell. floyd is just a phenomenal boxer. he'll go down as a p4p great when it's all said and done.
