Clottey said it best after the fight. This sums it up:

"This is the first fight that I feel that I've lost. He has great movement. He has great movement and speed. It was very difficult for me to handle that. I didn't feel much of his power, but I couldn't handle his speed."

Yeah, that's Clottey. Doesn't throw when he's thrown at. But like i said, it would've been nice to see him get away from his usual game plan and take more risk. He didn't do that and it's disappointing. Anytime i pay $60 to watch i fight, i expect both fighters to give their best effort. That's all one can ask for. I know Clottey didn't give his best effort. Did he fight his fight? Yes. Is that usually the best Clottey he can be? No.

I agree with you. I thought this was a great fight. Clottey is a defensive genius. That's not easy to beat, because those type of fighters don't allow you to win with luck or sloppy exchanges. You have to bring your "A" game against those type of fighters, because they're not going to give you easy opportunities at them. They may not have much offensive arsenal or skill, but they are hard to beat. If you're not a fundamentally good fighter, you can't beat those type of fighters. They prey on the weak and on weaknesses by systematically breaking you down over a period of time which is what Clottey did to Zab Judah. Clottey is one of the greatest defensive fighters today, and certainly Pacquiao's greatest defensive opponent. Clottey brought his "A" game to that fight, but a lot of people didn't understand his style of fighting. I favor Clottey in a match with Berto, Collazo, and perhaps I'm going out in a limb here, but even over FMJ. FMJ doesn't really have a lot of power at welterweight, and he certainly doesn't have the workrate to keep Clottey at bay which is what Pacquiao successfully did. Anyhow, that's a different discussion. The Pacquiao-Clottey fight was a great fight if you look closely enough what each of the two boxers were trying to do.

The fight went as I expected it and so I excepted the insipid nature of this clash of styles long before the fighters entered the ring.

Perhaps thoughs who were disappointed were the ones who believed that Clottey would deviate from his makeup and fight the type of fight that's completely foreign to his style.

It was a bad fight because Clottey wasnt competitive. Watch Pac vs Clottey and watch Hopkins vs pavlik and its the same fight. Pav and Clottey have to be set to throw punches and Hop and Pac dont let you be set and Pac kept moving so much that Clottey looked really bad even if he gave the excuses that he had a stomache ache before the fight. Pac didnt let him do ****. Plus his trainer mentioned in round 10 maybe he is feeling Mannys power and he doesnt wanna take a chance. Tell me if i am wrong

If Floyd had been in there at least I can appreciate his ducking/slipping and fancy footwork. What's so impressive about standing in one spot holding your hands up high? Anybody can do that! There's no excuse for Clottey. He received a once in a lifetime opportunity and he didn't try nearly hard enough to win. Nobody should respect this kind of attitude. He threw over 600 punches against Cotto. Then throws over 200 less in the biggest fight of his career. Shame! Roach has a point when he says he'd rather be KO'd trying rather than lose and not try at all.

I agree it's quite obvious watching the fight, and it should have been expected by anyone familiar with both of their styles.

Anyone who thinks this was a bad fight hasn't actually seen a bad fight.

The fight was completely staged in-house Top Rank trash. It was a disgraceful "Event". Anyone who paid for this complete turkey of a fight was fleeced and should promptly demand a full refund.

Yes it was a bad fight please dont even argue. Watching a man swing at lather for 36 minutes gets old quick. Best part is Lampley's orgasm in round 8.
