Ok...in an interview in the Romanian press he said, after beating Berrio, that the earliest he would fight is March. Then, I read on canoe that it might be in February...if so, Bute won't have time to prepare properly after coming back from Christmas in Romania...and it would be someone outside the Top 12. That would not be so hot, after Bika and Berrio...it would lose Bute some precious momentum. However, maybe he needs an easier time, after Bika and Berrio, to impress his fans against less dangerous and awkward competition.

Why cannot Bute make good money fighting in March against a live opponent like Lacy or Andrade and become even more well known in the process? Of course he can...If Bute fights in February in my view it will be against Beyer, sold as the revenging of Lucas, in a popular feel-good move for his home fans...But if he fights in February, the first live threat he could face would be in June-July, when everyone is away on holiday...of course, this means he could fight in Romania, in front of all the expatriates returning for their summer holidays...but in Romania, it wouldn't be against someone big...So we're realistically talking of his first proper fight being his mandatory defence, in autumn 2008...against Tsypko...

Or do you think he could fight Beyer in February, someone in the Top 10 in June and then Tsykpo in autumn?:think

Fighting in Montreal in May or June is not a problem at all.

18000 boxing fans went to see Ngoudjo-Bailey and Bute-Bika in a one week period.

I think Interbox will want to make at least one title defense in Montreal and then they might accept to defend the title somewhere else if the money is good. I beleive Golden Boy Promotions might throw money at Bute to get him to defend his title against Andrade in Vegas this summer. Possibly on the undercard of Delahoya's next fight on Cinco de Mayo.

Then if he wins that fight. Bute would defend against Tsypko in the fall.

Beyer, Andrade and Tsypko would be acceptable for 2008, right, Maxime?

    Yes,

Today his trainer mentioned that they will make two title defense before fighting the mandatory challenger. They said his next fight will be in February.

He said they want to fight a big American name in one of those two fights.

    It's looking good I think.

If Andrade counts as American and if it's Lacy or Andrade as the second optional defense before Tsypko, then I guess that is acceptable...but it would be even better if

    1. Froch fights Tsypko first, and the winner challenges for the mandatory...and if

    2. Lucian's first optional is against someone in the Top 15...and Beyer is not just not a live thread; he is de facto retired...wouldn't be much of a defense...Alan Green - another American (!!!) -on the other hand, would fit the bill too, but he wants much too much money, right? Still, Green, Andrade/Lacy and then Tsypko/Froch - depending on how much Froch wants to fight Bute - would be a very good first year for Bute.

(Of course, Inkin and Froch or Mundine would be much better!!)

    What say you, Maxime?:think

I'll have to say that fighting a fit Mundine at this point in Butes career would spell dissaster if you ask me. Bute should wait at least a year for such a fight. But it won't happen anyway, because it would mean that Mundine would have to give up his regular WBA belt, which is either a mandatory to the Cal-Kes winner or a full championship if the winner should relinquish the WBA Super title. Mundine would be an idiot (I know he is an idiot, but then an even bigger idiot;) ) to part with his WBA regular belt at the moment.

He will be fit, that eye injury has been blown way out of proportions. Of course it will make Mundine look that much better when he makes a succesful "comeback" against some Argentinian cab driver.:yep

On RDS they said that they also received an offer from Stieglitz but I don't see why Bute would want to fight him.:huh

Steiglitz is no tomato can. This is good experience for Bute, and he is building up a profile so he can command big purses against top opposition. Its important for a top boxer to have a few good knockouts and impressive wins against B level opposition so that he can impress fans and make big fights.

Steiglitz is a decent fight - should be fairly run of the mill. I'd keep him away from Lacy, Froch, Inkin & Mundine for now - Tsypko would be a good fight, experience against a tough southpaw.

Braehmer is nothing special but has a half-decent record. I'd go with Tsypko.

I get your point but the way I look at it why make a optional defense against Stieglitz , I know he's not a bad fighter at all but when I see this guy lose 2 of the 8 rounds like he did against Marlon Hayes I mean he's not that good either, I've seen Hayes live in Montreal and let me tell ya he aint a world class fighter. Even though Stieglitz was ahead aginst Berrio on the judjes scorecards when lost and even if he won a TKO on the 11th round in their first fight, I don't see this guy as being a challenge at all . His boxing skills are limited compare to other fighter Bute already faught. I would like to see a defence that will make Lucian progress a little more.

Lucian did not fail to impress me so far ;) and I want to him step it up just a little.

IMO he's ready for Andrade who's been completely outboxed by Kessler. If Andrade is willing to come to Montreal to fight Bute, why not!
He already came for Grant for Mandatory wbc title eliminator.

I don't say that Lucian is as good as Kessler yet but he would defenitly win over Andrade. It would give him a chance to compare himself with the very best.

    Bravo Lucian!:happy:happy

Mundine has a title so would not be fighting Bute. Anyhow Mundine has another $5 Million fight with Green lined up next year for the IBO light heavy title.

Not to mention the paper belt that Mundine has can not be unified. :yep
