Move over Duddy!!! Pavlik vs Taylor II is on!!!!!

It appears to me after reading the above quote Taylor met the dead line and wishes to fight. Also states in the same article he could change his mind but that could apply to any fight no?

I don't see this thread as misleading. Taylor contacted Pavlik's camp before the dead line and thats news. To say he may change his mind is to say no fights are worth discussing to they step in the ring.

I don't really see how Taylor can enforce a non-title rematch anyway. Usually these contract clauses protect a champion. I'm sure Pavlik is on board, but I don't think I've ever seen this kind of stipulation.

 

I was wondering the same thing... there's only rumours and speculations in there.

 

And btw...did'nt i hear that in the re-match clause,it says it has to happen at a higher(164??) weight?

I remember hearing someone say that during the last fight.that being the case,KP has to staep up his act.JT may actually be too strong for him at that weight.

 

The clause it whatever the Champ makes it to be. Taylor wanted a catch weight of 166 if he lost. I guess his thinking was if he lost it would be because of a weight issue. I think everyone in his camp wanted an interim fight, but Jermain insisted to fight the rematch right away ( a true error on his part). The deal isn't done yet, probably the date and $$$$$$$$$ to be worked out yet.

 

Props to Taylor if he does sign and fight is done...............but unfortunately, his ego is about to sign a check his body wont be able to cash in.

at 166, Pavlik is gonna hurt him, and hurt him bad!

 

I side with Rumsfeld, if JT boxes more from long range he can get cornered at a certain point, all the same, and then, it doesn't matter in favour of whom the scorecards are. Or else, if JT goes for the finish early, he may punch himself out again and have Kelly startled, firing back hard too soon... This is all about chins and defensive skills, JT and KP get hit too much but nothing provides evidence that JT takes it better than KP. Bad Intentions seems to be what Jermain has for himself or a Ghost of a chance which is the same.

Taylor to demand rematch!
Former middleweight champion Jermain Taylor doesn't plan to wait for a rematch with conqueror WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik. According to the Youngstown Vindicator, Taylor's representatives have informed Top Rank, Pavlik's promoter, that Taylor plans to exercise a rematch clause calling for an immediate return fight against Pavlik at a catch weight. Top Rank had hoped to stage an interim fight between Pavlik and John Duddy in January before taking on Taylor again. Pavlik-Duddy could still happen, of course, if an agreement with the Taylor Camp can be negotiated. If not, Pavlik's next fight would be a non-title affair against Taylor at 166 lbs.

I think a rematch will be just as good as the first fight! In the first few rounds it looked like JT was going to put Pavlik away, but Pavlik came back to punish JT. Great & exciting fight to be at!
