I think Pac would fight anyone, anywhere, and I've been one of his biggest critics on the testing front. It's Arum who wasn't interested, I think. He's a crafty old ******* and knows that it had to simmer for a while to pull in the really big money. Couple this with the fact that Roach probably wanted more than 2 (short) months to get ready for Mayweather and there's your answer, but it was 90% Arum, IMO.
Thanks. Honest insight there. But for the question, do you think it would have happened on that date if there was no drug test asked by Team Mayweather?
I doubt it. I think they're eyeing October, which is traditionally a much more profitable season for superfights, anyway. People are back at work, Christmas is only a blip on the horizon, there's no great weather enticing people outside, most of the other sports aren't nearing anything significant etc. I could easily be wrong, though. I've been wrong before and doubtless will be again.
the fight is already a go until this demand from floyd's camp that resulted in the deadlock. if you will notice, pac really does want this fight while floyd doesn't. look at their demands, pac wants a penalty of $10M/pound over the limit so it means that the fight is still a go regardless if anyone was overweight. floyd's demand means, the fight will be scrapped, once either of them tested positive.
they wernt ready for that date for a fight with mayweather also arum had his eyes set on dallas and floyd wont fight there
If the drug test was not opened, what would have been the excuse of team Pac then to pull-out from the almost signed fight?:good
If they were skittish on a drug test and assuming Pacquiao is clean then they would have jumped out the second something else happened. Bob Arum said he didn't want the fight to happen, he proved that during negotiations with leaky lips and grandstanding then immediately signing Pacquiao to a fight two seconds after negotiations ended.
they postured about the contract then pulled out the drug testing was in the initiol draft i believe so i think they were just saving face by saying they wanted to fight but the testing was a problem for me they wernt ready for floy on that short notice and like i said arum had his bank acount set on dallas
Fight would have been on if not for the demands from floyd....anyone who thinks otherwise are NOT being honest. The only hold up was the demands....that is all.:smoke
i honestly cant see why anyone would think manny wouldnt want this fight... hes not scared to fight anyone. mayweather has shown signs of ducking in the past... mannys walked through everyone recently, even those who were favoured over him. a fighter has (or should have) complete confidence in their ability.. do you think embarrasing cotto, dela hoya, hatton etc is gonna leave someone wondering if they can ebat anyone put in front of them ? not a chance
Pacs team didnt want it. Pac prolly didnt care if it happened but his team definaetly did not want all the momentum they had getting ruined. Not yet.
Vote people... No need to say who would have won, but would have it happened if not for the drug test?
I really believe that the extra-drug test was the one that broke this fight apart.:deal If it was not included, I can not think of anything that would have stopped it from happening.
