Cayo vs. Maidana

If Cayo fights smart, he stands a good chance of winning. The problem is that I've never seen Cayo consistently fight smart. Maidana by mid rounds knockout, the kind where they need to bring him oxygen in the ring.

 

From the footage I've seen from Cayo he's got good movement but he always seems to keep his hands down, i think Maidana will K.O when he eventually gets him on the ropes.

He keeps his hands low and his movement isnt that great.

The tougher pick i would think would be Guzman-Funeka.
I think Funeka will win again though.

It's crazy to me how things like this happen (radical shifts in perception) - Maidana's some kind of destroyer you can't afford a single mistake against now, just because of the Ortiz fight.

 

KO for Cayo, please.

 

He could be the most overrated boxer in boxing right now.

He was a few rounds away from being KOd. Had Ortiz been a little more patient it would have happened.
I mean yes he has power but it comes in wide looping punches and a guy with good defense could completely nullify that power. His speed is not that great and to top it off his chin is not very good along with his defense.

He kind of reminds me of Ponce De Leon. Except De Leon probably had a better chin.

 

what's exciting about this is that no one knows much about Cayo (and Maidana for that matter) that we would have to predict the fight with little to go on.

Cayo should try to box, Maidana will try for the KO. those opposing styles will determine who has better willpower.


Cayo = undefeated but untested.
best win against Julio Diaz by UD
not a puncher but not featherfisted either
has good skills but (as above) untested

Maidana = only loss was a SD to Kotelnik (who has a chin lol)
puncher, only one person survived to the end (and it was only six rounds)
high profile win against Ortiz (they drop each other in one round, eventual TKO)


On record, Maidana rightfully is the favorite. on the gambling side, I'd give Cayo a chance to outbox Maidana (but will only gamble with vCash).

 

It's not that you can't make a single mistake, but he's a great finisher, and a decent boxer as well. He should be undefeated and have a win over Kotelnik on his resume as well. He has 26 knockouts in 28 fights. And Cayo fights dumb - he likes to keep his hands down, he likes to showboat, he likes to start brawling when he should box on the outside. Cayo will make more than enough mistakes to get caught eventually.

 

I care about this fight. I'm not to familiar with Cayo (his name sounds like K.O.), but from what I've heard and seen of Marcos Rene Maidana, Marcos is the favorite. This should be a fun and exciting fight with Cayo being K.O.ed if Marcos follows through his knockout reputation. If Marcos does get pass Cayo, it would surely set him up against the other big guns in the light welterweight division.

 

I like this fight, I think it should be the undercard to Guzman-Funeka 2, but I still like it. I think Cayo leaves the ring on a stretcher.

yea no doubt, but Cayo is better than Vasquez (although i've only seen very limited footage)

Just the styles are similar.

guys like Cayo usually make guys like Maidana look sloppy and uncoordinated

 

Maidana can be outboxed but i've not seen enough of Cayo to know if he can do it
