Is Wlad Klitschko Destined to become recognized heavyweight champion?why or why not

I think he'll have a Sonny Liston or Mike Tyson kind of reign.

It will be a short reign after he has cleaned practically all the division.

 

No , not until he unifies. I mean they'll always be haters no matter who it is. But personally I feel he needs to unify and be the man rather than people just ASSUMING he is based on his skills and potential. I'd like to see him in there with Ibragimov.

 

The only reason he wouldn't be champion is because the other belt holders won't fight him.

 

He needs to unify against Chagaev and Maskaev to be the true champ and there's no reason why he can't. But he needs to make an effort to get the fights.

Thats a interesting opinion, its hard to say for sure who or when Wlads reign will end, I do think hes in a great era to hold the title for awhile possibly. The future Heavywieght look weak for the most part, with the exception of Povetkin whos a good talent.

Wlads chin is the only real weakness Wlad has, a guy like a Peter or Valuev have a decent chance to beat him, but if Wlad gets past them the only other wild card picks I have are Povetkin and Chageav who have a kind of small chance of beating Wlad IMO.

 

Maskaev and Chagaev might be thinking the same. It's a shame politics get in the way but that's boxing.

 

Wladimir Klitschko is practically the Heavyweight Champion already but he does need to unify for his legacy as well as the better good of the division and boxing in general.

The good news is Chagaev & Ibragimov seem to be willing to unify. Let's see what happens in the coming months.

The bad news is the WBC seems tied up w/ a champion Maskaev, an interim champion Peter, an emeritus champion Vitali Klitschko and a mandatory challenger Gomez who just beat the former mandatory challenger McCall plus a number one contender Virchis. Good luck sorting that one out.

 

I'm not a Klitschko fan but I hope he (or someone else but he seems most likely) can do it. It would be nice to have a heavyweight champion again.

 

I like Wlad, and I like Vitali, but Vitali would be best served by retiring. His body isn't holding up to training, and if he did manage to grab a title, it would just prevent Wlad from getting ahold of that one.

Then again, the winner of Maskaev-Peter will be ranked 2 by the ring, so all he has to do is beat that person to be the Champion.

 

Seriously, I don't mind the originally planned Sultan vs. Ruslan matchup for unification either. The point is 2 belts would become one, barring a draw that is.

The WBC is digging their own grave here.................at least the IBF is trying to sort out some of the contenders with their tournament even if Wlad already destroyed 2 of those contenders.................it's the effort that I as a fan appreciate. The winner of that Touney deserves a shot more than Austin did right?

 

In Oleg's defense I believe he has never pulled out of a scheduled fight due to injury prior to doing so recently. That injury required surgery so it's extent is fairly easily verifiable.

I hope & believe that Maskaev & Peter will settle the first part of the WBC mess in February as is now scheduled.

We'll see what happens with Vitali and Gomez when that time comes but knowing the WBC they'll probably have another 2 or 3 mandatories lined up by then. :-(
