I hope your right & yes, Floyd does have to beat Shane - not an easy task, just ask Roach, who wouldnt let his man anywhere near Mosely unless Shane came in a 143 :-(

Mayweather will put Pacquiao to the sword decisively once he gets by Mosely... which I think he will.

His achievements are great no doubt but other things come into play too, not just weight jumping.

For eg. Pac doesnt come close to being ranked as a top ATG in any of those weight classes he won titles in.... he walked from the biggest fight & most dangerous fight of his era when it would have cemented his greatness in stone & a lot of his best wins were vs men on the way out & he still took a couple of losses en route - one official vs Morales & one non-official vs Marquez in fight 2.

You have to annalyse skillset too & all those guys are better fighters... period.

I dont deny he`s one of the greatest in the last 20 yrs but he`s not thee greatest, thats bull****.... he needs the Mayweather-Mosely winner on his record for such a claim.

of course skill comes to play but H2H the man has proven to be on the level of anyone at the same weight during his prime years which you would say is since cotto fight.

For me weigh jumping is a great way of getting on the level of say armstrong and ali in terms of THE NUMBER of good fighters on your cv. Now when ali was fighting look at how many great heavyweights they were.

For pac and excuse my knowledge as I only started watching since 02/03 all tho I have watched lots of old fights. he took out sure HOF and the best in their weight class in Barrera, moralis (ATG), Marquez. Now remember the guy was at 134, ignore everything else in terms of how good he is now. he went up to 144 from 134 to fight a 147 good fighter. that takes some balls and he put everything on the line. not many people gave him a chance.

defeating the man at 140 and a top class welter in cotto. now honestly you can look at weight classes in comparison to opponents for other boxers if you want. you can compare skill but compare the resume, just look at how many top boxers the guy has taken out.

I admit people go over board calling him a top 10-15 atg because I feel the amount of great boxers have declined but you cant seriously say anyone else has achieved more in the last 20 years, H2H hate aside pacman is 50-50 with anyone at worst as well mate

Mayweather would have kicked his arse prime for prime at 130, 135, 140 and 147.

Then why would the extra tests be necessary then? Take the regular rules, fight and beat the man, cash in on the millions, bragging rights and huge potential income.

Sincerely, can you give me an answer to this? I have my own theory but I'd like your response. A pm to me will do just fine since this is not related to this thread.

Very true. Modern greats like Manny will only be fully appreciated years or decades down the line.

The danger with ranking pac so high is that if he were to lose to mayweather. And mayweather also had a win over mosley. Could you justify ranking him so high and if so where would u have to rank and underfeated mayweather?

Fighters should be ranked once they retire.

Top 10 ? No way in bloody hell !

I am reading more and more scary things lately... some people really need to rewatch some boxing tapes and read some articles about boxers of the last 50 years before claiming Pacquiao is the best ever.

I think most had RJJ top 15 after he beat Ruiz. After he lost to Tarver his ranking dropped big time. It happens.

Pac does not shy away from a good night. It's Floyd who's putting obstacles like ridiculous blood testing which has never been done before. I think Floyd is scared to lose his 0. IMO, Shane will put Floyd to shame. He is the better fighter and a rightful opponent for the greatest of them of all -- Pacman.

Rating a boxer is dynamic thing. A boxer's position is not carved in stone. It depends on Floyd's performance w/ Shane and if he finally grow balls to fight Pac. The problem is he's avoiding Pac like plague. Pac's impressive performance against Cotto and Clottey may have scared him like hell.
