Just rewatched Cotto v Mosley, and I forgot how good this bout was. The first time I watched and scored this bout I had Cotto winning by 2 rounds I think. Well after rewatching it, I scored it 6 rounds to 5 in favour of Cotto, with 1 round even. It definitely wasn't a draw like i've heard a few people say in the past. How did everyone else score it...if you can remember...:good
That fight will be a classic i think. Great welter fight, sickening punishment from both men and 6-5. Mosley started smoking but not soon enough i suppose.
When I first watched it , I thought Cotto won comfortably .. Then I rewatched with the volumn turned off and I had cotto winning by 1 round .. With a couple of toss up rounds . Really good fight
I didn't catch the fight live the first time round, so when I first watched it...it was with American commentators who were very biased towards Cotto. I watched it with the volume turned off before, still had Cotto winning a close bout, but my opinion on some of the exchanges were far less influenced.
That's a bout where I was truly impressed with Cotto and his boxing ability but on the other hand I was equally disappointed by the way Mosley fought it out.... I was sure Mosley would outbox Cotto all night, often overwhelming Cotto with his combination punching and power-box style. He seemed content to look for big punches all night instead of just letting his combos go....
But you were clearly unsure of your first scorecard. You also had a tossup round and your second scorecard which why you have an even round. There's a lot of uncertainy in both your scorecards. Given this, how are you going to say there definately wasn't a a draw?
My first score card had no influence whatsoever, like I pointed out, I forgot not only how good this bout was, but also how this bout played out. So my scoring first time round is irrelevant. How I scored it today was how I seen the bout today, no influence from the commentators or the crowd, etc. So when I say it definitely wasn't a draw, thats my opinion, thats how I scored it. The even round I gave was for the 10th I believe, not uncertainty, just a very even round were the tide changed about half way through the round.
Shane is one of my all time favorites but this fight is what made me a Cotto fan. I've never seen my boy Shane hit with such clean, accurate shots. Hell Yeah this fight is a classic!!! It was close but i'd say Cotto won with those clean accurate shots.
