I just watched that RJJ fight a few weeks ago... went down almost exactly the same, except Dirrell seemed to slip. But in the Jones fight, it looked like Jones paused, loaded up, and threw a punch. It's really tough to stop in the heat of battle. Tough break for both guys. I wish they could have finished the fight properly.
I agree with your post...Most likely Dirrell was going to win a UD...It is fact though that Dirrell seemed hurt for the first time the round before...The negative side of Dirrell from the Froch fight started showing up, with the falling on the ground and the holding....Dirrell is just a negative fighter when he senses any sign of danger.... I have no problem with holding while hurt or backing up to try and escape when hurt....but falling on the ground a half dozen times? The DQ was still justified, thanks to a bit of an act job...Dirrell was trying to run out the clock, the last 2 rounds before as well....First half ofthe fight he boxed beautifully...
(being that there are about 10 post about it....i wrote what i thought and i am going to copy and paste it on each to say my piece) no way..you can watch that again and see it was a clear slip...in the same corner he slipped before. I feel bad for both fighters...it was a ****ed up ugly mess and occurance. I think it should just be nullified... no points for anyone and no dq on aa's record Abraham didnt know he slipped.. abraham thought he was doing what he does..."duckin and jiving" when he is in the corner or against the ropes... he threw on instinct..much like roy jones did agains montey barrett... he was just in the mix and threw. I can understand Dirrell being as upset as he was. hometown and all. He did demonstrate the blueprint...and was winning no matter what any AA fan says. Abraham should have said something to the effect of "i didnt know he slipped" not...he's an actor. or anything else... he talked **** about a guy that was clearly beating him. Dirrell was not acting... he was zoned out like roy been in the past.... when you catch an uppercut on your feet at least you can absorb the shock and roll with it.... when you are low doing a goddamn split practically on a knee (and not from a punch) and you take an uppercut ...you can't even react accordingly....he got a bomb dropped on him in the worst way. We know AA's power... he didnt perform well tonight. and he was lucky to not catch his first loss tonight that he was going to recieve. A fine performance by Andre Dirrell...(hold your head bro) and an unfortunate reaction by Arthur Abraham.
I totally agree:deal and I will add that I just never understood why Abraham was thought to be so good. It's not like out of no where he suddenly looks average for most of the fight, throws very little, covers up all the time and is so predictable... He's always been like that ! He just never faced guys that have serious skills in the past, that's all. It takes nothing away from the fact Abraham still has decent skills, good power and decent quickness in his punch deliveries. He's just never been what the hype wanted him to be.
This might be the dumbest post I have ever read... Abraham is a piece of ****...**** him. And this is coming from someone who picked Arthur to win and was a fan of his up until that comment about Dirrell being a "good actor". **** him and anyone else that thinks that kind of **** is ok. This is a sport and actions like that can harm the life of a fighter...and the worst part of it was that Abraham showed no remorse. Scum bag...
SEE BOXING RULE BOOK A. Intentional fouls. If an intentional foul causes an injury, and the injury is severe enough to terminate the bout immediately, the boxer causing the injury shall lose by disqualification. If an intentional foul causes an injury and the bout is allowed to continue, the referee shall notify the authorities and deduct two (2) points from the boxer who caused the foul. Point deductions for intentional fouls will be mandatory. If an intentional foul causes an injury and the injury results in the bout being stopped in a later round, the injured boxer will win by TECHNICAL DECISION if he is ahead on the score cards; and the bout will result in a TECHNICAL DRAW if the injured boxer is behind or even on the score cards. If the boxer injures himself while attempting to intentionally foul his opponent, the referee will not take any action in his favor, and this injury shall be the same as one produced by a fair blow. If the referee feels that a boxer has conducted himself in an unsportsman-like manner, he may stop the bout and disqualify the boxer.
It wasn't delibrate.....otherwise aa deserves an award for the "what the **** just happened" face. total accident. when you fight someone elusive and they get low like that (from a slip) you get in the motion to throw. and thats all that was. I wanted Dirrell to win...and i think what happened was ****ed up. but I won't **** on AA for that accident.
Giving no points to Dirrell would be like rewarding AA. Truth is he got beat in the ring and then did something stupid and got DQ'd. Its not Dirrells fault that AA did that ****, but Dirrell deserved to win the fight to that point and as such deserves the points that he got.
Tarver made a good point, its a good thing that it didnt happen in Vegas or eles the super-six would likely be looking for its second replacement fighter. Because AA would be on the self for awhile.
this fight clearly showed one thing to me,,,, GERMAN FIGHTERS SHOULD NEVER FIGHT OUTSIDE OF GERMANY imo ever again!!!
