Most of the guys already mentioned, plus Rocky Marciano and Jack Dempsey. Dempsey most certainly would have slaughtered him.

I think there is basically nothing between Foster and Fitz in terms of how hard they hit.

I've always said that Bob Foster was the most explosive puncher over eleven feet tall and under eighty-five pounds in history and I still stand by that assertion.

This is true, but it is still a stretch to compare it to Fitz' power.

Fitz knocked out most of his opponents (good ones too) within 4 rounds. He knocked out most of the world class heavyweights he fought, and he actually hurt all of them.

Foster, good as he was, never really managed dent the chin of any halfway decent heavyweights at all. He did beat some, but his power certainly wasnt frightening to any of them. He was also taken the distance by fighters who to be quite kind, were not the same caliber (of chin or class) as some of the guys that Fitz KOd. I dont think Foster can be shown to hit anywhere near as hard as Fitz.

You cant compare Fitz era of heavys to Fosters. Fitz also would have gotten creamed against Fraizer and Ali.

Foster does have something like 20 KO's over men weighing in above the LHW limit (then HW limit). But yeah, he never really dented the top men he faced. But I don't think there is a marked difference in power, more durability. Fitz could take huge punches whilst landing his own making him a superior offensive machine all round (era-era if you prefer). Foster had to be so so careful by comparison. He basically doesn't risk it versus Joe Frazier for example and looks flat-out terrified of being hit versus Ali.

I agree, but there is absoltley no doubt in my mind that Fitz would have lasted longer than two, and I can promise you he wouldn't have shown that much respect for Muhammad.

Johnson did it (KO15)... sure, Jeffries was past prime and had not fought in 6 years though. Jeffries was the best of his era but I think he'd get beat by plenty of HWs. How many would knock him out? I think several could... probably more than you want to admit.

Jeffries never beat an athletic big man. He had 60Lbs. on Joe Choynski (D20).

He had about 20Lbs. on Peter Jackson... it was Peter's 101st fight, he only fought once more (KO3).

He had 30Lbs over the 5'8" Tom Sharkey in their two fights (W20 and W25).

He had 40Lbs. on Fitzsimmons in their first fight, 50Lbs. on him in the rematch (KO11 and KO8).

He had 30Lbs. on James J. Corbett in their two fights (KO23 and KO10).

At 6' and 215-220Lbs. he would not have a huge size advantage over too many great HW champs. How would he respond to that?

HaRD TO SAY BUT FITZ NEVER FOUGHT ANY ONE CLOSE TO THE COMBINATION OF SIZE AND SPEED,ABILITY THAT ALI BROUGHT. Sorry but i just have a hard time seeing those turn of the century heavyweights being competetive with modern heavyweights especially the 70s era.
