I'll stick to my theory... a 6'2" Wlad is nowhere near the 6'7". His height is an enormous advantage. Period.

Because I'm a boxing fan and I like seeing uppercuts and hooks? :D

I agree Wlad has been trying a little more recently. He uses his left hook a bit more (Brock), and his uppercut as you mentioned also returned recently.

I don't think anyone is refuting that. But I think Wlad, just as his skills and power are, would still be a very competitive heavyweight, even if he were 6 foot 2. Granted, he probably would not be dominant, no, but his size is something that is part of the whole package...........so deal with it......... At least you are admitting that as he is, he is head and shoulders above the rest of the division. Literally and figuratively. Good to hear a hater admit that...........

But his size aside, the guy has some amazing power, skill, and very fast hands, especially for a heavy. I think he'd hold is own, even if he were only 6 foot 2.

No one can deny Wlad has great skills, but I do question his chin and lack of defense to protect it. Wlads jab is his best weapon because it allows him to keep sluggers at bay, but there will come a time where his chin will be tested and I really dont think it will pass.

Well I agree w/Heavyrighthand. This thread is just as wrong as pointless :yep as many have pointed out in their responses. You're a known Peter lover and Wlad hater. You make Punisher33 seem like a Wald fan by comparison

What if Ali had a shorter height or reach? Or even worse, was slower of hand or foot? Not s-l-o-w, but just average speed. There was no CW div. in his era, and I doubt he could have faught as a LHW. So he most likely would just be an ordinary - not bad - HW if you took away his top speed or long reach and good height. So what?
You can make these claims about any fighter - what if Chuvalo had an average chin...

Others have already said it - sure his size helps him, but he has much more than size going for him.

Nothing to do with hating, loving etc. I am merely stating my opinion that his height is a huge weapon of his and never discussed. That's all. Calm down. Don't get so defensive for cripes sake.

And remember, speed can be learned/acquired, footwork can be learned/acquired, technique can be learned/acquired, even a chin can be improved upon through training/experience etc.

Height ain't learned, acquired or trained. It's either there or it isn't. Period.

I have never said Wlad sucks. EVER. He is far and away the best HW out there, right now. Can he be beaten?... absolutely, due to his shaky chin. But he is certainly the best by a fair margin.

(The idiotic "hater" label can be removed... once again)

I think Wlad biggest's advantages are:

    1) His talent and technique
    2) His speed
    3) His straight right
    4) His age/experience

    Wlads diadvantages are:

    1. Glass chin
    2. Stamina issues
    3. Balance problems
    4. bad defense

I'm calm :yep I share your love of big puncher's - in any division. Which is why I don't understand your heavy criticism of Wlad - even with his chin issues. I used to love Earnie Shavers fights. The Acorn often won with a KO - and early - but there was always the chance Shavers could be stopped too.

Many will have problems regarding some of the attributes you say can be acquired, especially speed. A chin can only be marginally improved by strengthening the neck. Can you "learn" to have a naturally thick, non neck build like Peter? :huh About as much as you can learn to be taller. Re Peter, I'm hardly the biggest critic of SP around here. But his performances in Toney 2 and McCline have dropped his stock in my and many others mind.

I know many like to start these types of hypothetical threads. What if Dempsey was 6'3" 225, what if Marciano was 6'1" 215 w/the same stamina for 15 rounds...

Well what if Wlad had a Chuvalo or Mercer chin? He would no doubt beat Lewis p4p and would be the #1 ATG.

sounds good. just like i'll stick to my theory that if peter was a featherfisted puncher, he'd have lost all his pro fights.

if tyson was slow he would have been a no body.

if larry holmes had no jab he would have been average.

if mayorga had a glass chin, he would never have left nicarunga.

if floyd mayweather was slow he would have lost a few times by now.

if golota mentally stable he would have actually won some belts by now.

if ali had a bad chin, he would have lost many times.

if roy had no reflexes he would have lost in his prime.

if holyfield was not allowed to headbutt, he might have lost more.

    IF IF IF!!!!

it's just a useless merry-go round swedeone! sure wlad would not be the same fighter, but he isn't 6'2, and the size combined with skills, atheletic ability and ATG power makes him damn fine :good

So Lewis would be also only journeyman, if he lost his size advantage over his opponent's...Ali was most of his fight's bigger man etc...

An objective assesment of his attributes should be like:

Power: He is the hardest hitter in the division (no1)
Speed: One of the fastest (top 5)
    Intelligence: (top3)
    Chin : average
    Height and reach:(top 3)
Work ethic: one of the best
    and
    Best Jab
So height is not the most important weapon

    and

I like Valuev but honestly he has very liitle chance. He is too slow to hit him, and easily get hit. His solid chin can be cracked after getting hit many times by hardest power shots of the division. Actually Valuev is at more disadvantage than wlad as he will not be able to use his best weapon properly: Height.
