He hasnt fought in nearly 3 years. I think the rest did him good. If he can comfortably get back down to 135, hes definitely very capable of picking up a title there, beating MAB to that 4th title.
I really wana see this fight. Intersted in seing how morales looked and aparrently there wer really gud exchanges.
To answer the the original question: Erik Morales is one of my favorite fighters of all time, and I wasn't interested in paying to see this. I'm not interested in a comeback, because he's not capable of being relevant at this point. Where's he going to fight? Who's he going to fight? I'd rather see him stay retired than to try to fight someone like Manny and lose by death.
Let him get a few fights against tomato cans under his belt and I think he could beat Diaz (again) and given Soto's performance against Diaz at the weight, I think that's a fight that EM could work his way into perhaps. All of this is assuming of course that he continues to look sharper and drop weight over the next few fights.
I didn't see the match, but by the way Morales has been talking he seems to believe that he can beat Pacquaio or Mayweather at welterweight....I hope that he's not serious. A match against Marquez at 135 or 140 lbs. could be competitive I guess....I doubt that Morales would win that one either though.
Why the **** not ? Morales is never in a dull fight, win or lose & he`s a boxing legend. I would have bought it in a second if the pricks gave us the option in the UK but they didnt.
I watched the first 6 rounds and couldnt watch anymore. He was fighting with love handles. From what I saw though his headmovement and evasiveness still looks good but his power and speed has declined dramatically. I dunno if its the weight as to why he looked so slow but it's nice to see Morales coming back at his opponents after an attack, he still has alittle bit of that intensity still in him.
Morales is yesterdays news. He is a ATG but he is finished! Whats he coming back for, its a crime seeing these great boxers come back about a decade after their career is finished.
