    this is all true
it is only in the uk where such bias happens

i was watching an old fight from last year yesterday ,between
chavez jnr v carlos molina 2

and it showed how in america things like favouritism does not happen and all is fair and above board.

i thought chavez drew the 4th round.

It was a **** poor stoppage but come on ffs, Manfredo never stood a chance. He shouldn't have been in the ring with Joe but that is Frank Warren for you. The fight shouldn't have been stopped at the time it was but could anyone seriously see any other outcome other than the one that happened.

Joes slapping is bordering on the embaressing at times by the way :-(

    1) The fight was stopped too early.
    2) Manfredo would never have won.
    3) The fight never should've been made.

the reason why they are reluctant to see a guy take an avoidable beating when he is in trouble and sometimes jump in too early is that because in the last 16 years, british boxing has had two highly publicised tragedies, chris eubank-michael watson and nigel benn-gerald mclellan.

there is little doubt in my mind that these two incidents have made refs a lot more trigger happy when it comes to stopping a fight.

another point though, as poor a stoppage as the manfredo one was, some of you need to stop talking like it happens in every calzaghe fight, because it doesn't. no doubt some moron will say byron mitchell should have been allowed to continue now.......

Outclassed, maybe. No chance? we'll never know.

The fight didn't go long enough to consider it a domination, Joe never had Peter "hurt" at all, he had his slap happy party going on then the fight was stopped.

Manfredo is a slow starter, so who knows how the fight would of ended, more than likely, a Joe C UD, but... but.. it's boxing... who knows.

Calzaghe was snapping Manfredo's head back at will in that fight.

It annoys me, because everyone is in agreement the fight was **** and peter shouldnt have even been in the ring, but it will still add to Calzaghes number of title defenses. It still made millions and it still a TKO3.

When he retires people will credit the number of defenses he made, but with guys like manfredo buffing the number its not THAT impressive.

By the way, to completely contradict myself, yes Calzaghe wouldve easily won anyway, but you still can't rule out something like a cut, broken hands, lucky punch, exhaustion etc. NOTHING is a forgone conclusion. But i will admit this is as close to one as you could hope to get.

A few times, with jabs. But not during the stoppage.

Sounds bad, but there's a lot of truth to this. Example and RIP Chico Corrales. Getting a beating from Floyd, KD several times, about to kill his dad for stopping the fight.

Yeah I agree with you, those definatly had a huge impact. But there's caution with common sense and then there's being so cautious that you're actually ruining a sport. And I think that Manfredo stoppage ruined the fight, I watched it live and at the end I was left feeling like it was a waste of time to watch it, as a spectator it left me feeling disappointed. Refs who stop fights like that should lose their job plain and simple. It's the boxing equivalent of giving a penalty for a dive.

And Byron Mitchell, LOL if he hadn't been stopped right then his rebounding body was heading on a collision course with Joe's left knuckle, would have been floored for sure!

FFS calzaghe could beat manfredo with one hand tied behind his back.
it was a disgrace that manfredo was even allowed in the same ring as him.
