Yeah he looked much better, I still find him a bit frustrating to watch though....It pisses me off how he falls over all the time (and I don't mean the slips on water) He actually stood infront of AA rather than running
The only thing exposed on Saturday night was Dirrells complete inability to act...the little ***** took a dive, twitching around the canvas like a landed trout...the man needs banning
It's not really relevant if Dirrell exposed Abraham. Dirrell was still there to be KOed. Instead Dirrell opted out. Another ref might have DQed Dirrell instead of Abraham. Dirrell took great advantage of fighting at home.
I think he hiding a somewhat fragil chin. He will not throw punches while someone else is punching it seems. And that only means one thing to me. You are weary of gettting punched when you are not completely braced and ready for it. He celarly said he wanted the knockout and was only going for the knockout. But when he pressed Dirrel and got hit right back HE STOPPED PRESSING. HE just covered up. When you are going for the one punch KO . You r oppurtunity comes during exchanges and mistakes by the other fighter. Abraham found that mistake by the other fighter when the fighter slipped on the canvas. The excitement and adrenaline rush does not happen 25 minutes after the fight starts. Some of you people are clueless. He took a cheap shot because he had no answer. He was being humiliated and his frail ego could not handle that so he went the route of classless scumbag.
he exposed him...wtf are u talking about...he is just like clottey but with some pop whenever he decides to throw...and second he wasnt fighting with sauerland refs and judges that let him get away with dirty **** in the ring, cuz i guarantee if this fight happened in berlin dirrell wouldve got a ten count and a loss...dirrell attacked and attacked were other fighters seem scared
dirrel showed that he can be put down. other than that he showed that abraham could be out boxed(most knew he could but for how long was the shocker), relied only on his power(dirrel took some good shots and gave some good ones as well), and that he gets desperate and opens himself up for big counters and speedy fighters can take big advantage of that. he exposed some of those things to a bigger audience because of this tournament but he did not expose anything that was not unknown...except maybe he can be put down and hurt.
He exposed him in the sense that AA can't deal with movement and speed and laid a blueprint. This was the main reason why I picked Dirrell to beat him.
I see so many emotional responses and comments from both Dirrell and Abraham's fans and little logic or critical analysis. I have to agree with Vivek in that Arthur threw the late punch instinctivly rather than intentionally. While Arthur was clearly frustrated throughout and after the fight I have a hard time believing any fighter would throw a late punch like that knowing what is and what might possibly be at stake as a result of such a punch. Boxing fans who dislike Andre Dirrell have all claimed he was faking it. Now to be fair I've seen Dirrell do his fair share of acting, falling down, dropping, etc. in the ring but I'll be damned if what I saw Saturday night was acting, the man was hurt and hurt badly as a result of Abraham's late punch. Dirrell had no reason to take "acting" to that kind of level. On the other side of the fence I see individuals who have a number of biases against Abraham claiming he did it with intent to take Dirrell out permanently or as retaliation for his dominating the fight. Abraham has just as much at stake when he gets into the ring as any other fighter. This includes his reputation, marketability, health, and of course his standing in the tournament. Abraham also wants to become huge in America. Now in light of what's happened all but Abraham's health where dealt a serious blow Saturday night. As frustrated as Arthur looked Saturday night I don't believe he'd allow himself to throw away everything he's worked so hard for and everything he had going for him, just to "get back" at the man who'd frustrated him. With that out of the way...was Abraham exposed? Though many will undoubtedly disagree with me, I don't think he was, not at all in fact. Arthur came into the ring Saturday and executed the same game plan that's allowed him to be successful 31 times. The only difference this time was that Abraham got started in the 10th round instead of the 4th, 5th, or 6th. Dirrell fought a great fight and applied constant pressure and even managed to land some good clean shots. Despite good execution and a fantastic game plan on Dirrell's part I have to give Abraham equal credit for what transpired. Abraham handed Dirrell the fight on a silver platter. Though he's traditionally a slow starter, Abraham did next to nothing for the first 9 rounds. I'm certain that this was in small part due to Dirrell's speed of hand and foot but a lot of it was just inactivity on Abraham's part. When Abraham did open up Dirrell either got on his bicycle or was crumbling under the pressure. It' a shame that the the fight ended in a DQ as I saw Abraham coming on strong in the 10th and 11th and saw Dirrell starting to fade. It would have been an intense final two rounds had the fight continued but of course we can only speculate in retrospect now. Abraham wasn't exposed Saturday night, and while he was clearly being outmatched in terms of speed and boxing ability, he was never hurt or in any trouble. Boxing fans should be careful not to underestimate Abraham in the future, and be wary of overrating Dirrell as well. Styles do make fights and I walked away from this fight feeling as though had Abraham applied more pressure much earlier in the fight the outcome would likely have been very different. To win a fight you've got to throw punches and throw them well before the 10th round.
totally agree with you. except for dirrell not acting. he might have been hurt and all, but even when walking in his cabine he childishly screamed for attention. he may have won rightfully, but compared to abraham he even showed less class. at least until the first minutes after the fight... as far as i know there's brewing a **** storm of crazy accusations from the abraham-camp regarding ped/hometown decision and so on, which might make abraham look like a fool also.
I had Dirrell up 7 rounds to 3 and I also think Abraham was starting to come on late in the fight. He won rounds 8 and 10 really clear, 9 was close for Dirrell. Dirrell dominated the first half of the fight. Abraham imo was on his way to losing 7 rounds to 5 unless he got a KO (which was possible) if the same situation had happened in round 11 of Froch vs Taylor (Taylor slips and Froch hits him while he's down), everyone would be saying that Taylor exposed Froch.
How did he get exposed? Everybody knew he would do badly against a fast technical boxer with good stamina. Abraham fought exactly as he always has. He lost the first couple of rounds vs. a shot Taylor in the same fashion. He can be outboxed? That doesn't mean he got exposed. We knew that before. Styles make fights. Explain in detail what part of Abraham's skillset got exposed by Dirrell. Where regarding Abraham do we as boxing fans have to change our opinion now after the fight?
Abraham is a very good fighter but he never was one of the best at 168lbs like many wanted us to believe. He has decent speed, a good tight defence, moves decently with his feet and has very good power but he relies too much on it. The one thing that no one has of yet exploited, is the fact that he constantly lunges inside throwing wide looping hooks. A very good counterpuncher can make him pay the price every time, but up to now, guys that can do that are more preoccupied not to get a taste of his power. I do see Abraham beating Froch, only because Froch's defence is way too wide open to sustain receiving powerful counters and hooks all 12 rounds.
