Saturday 03 April 5:10pm - 5:40pm BBC2 The late Harry Carpenter belonged in the ranks of the greats of sporting commentary. Former colleague and friend Des Lynam pays tribute to the man whose distinctive tones made his name synonymous with boxing. Des remembers some of Harry's iconic moments, especially with the charismatic Muhammad Ali. :happy
Cheers for the heads up. With people like 'Arry gone there's less and less chance of boxing ever returning to the BBC.
Surely his most famous moments are with Bruno. Hopefully they'll show a bit of that too, their rapport was **** hot. Thanks for this Jim, will be on holiday but the wonder of the iphone is I can watch it on BBC Iplayer whilst in Pattaya :happy
I said this to my old man last night and he said that it was Harry and Ali who had the great rapport initially. That said, he's no massive boxing fan so could be wrong.
