Matthew Hatton vs. Samuli Leppiaho

Matthew fought well but his opponent was way out of his depth .

I used to think Matthew was utter crap but he seems to have come on in leaps and bounds and the last few times I've seen him I've been quite impressed . He's British title level at the moment for me , which says a lot as a year or so ago I would have said he's only area level .

Hopefully he gets a decent opponent in his fight on Ricky's undercard , the last guy he fought(Edwin Vasquez) wasn't that bad and something of a similar level would be good .

 

No way is he British Level, NO WAY. Mutley,Barnes, Anderson, Jennings thats british level. Not Mattew ****ING Hatton

 

Leppiaho was outclassed in the fight, but I'm not sure that means a whole lot. He looked good, but then again so did Duddy, and neither appears to be world class anyhow. Matthew just seems to lack the handspeed to compete against anyone elite in his weight class.

 

Yes he lacks handspeed, natural talent, power and the ability to draw a crowd. Just about everything you need to become a sucessfull figher.:thumbsup

 

matt needs to earn his stripes at domestic level.

As i recall Matthew did win the IBF International Welterweight Title and then stated it was good to be out of Ricky's shadow, you can't get much more in the shadow when you fight on your brother's undercards he needs some big fights and soon, because at the moment he is fighting tomato cans. C'ome Matthew step it up, i don't mind your long, drawn out fights because it gives me time to get some beers down and gobble a pizza.

 

I hate his long drawn out fights, i ending throwing things at the tv wishing he would get spraked. I have only watched a few of his fights but the one that stands out most is the one on the Castillo undercard i think....it was so boring, i dont like him or his style:tired :tired :tired

First off, hello everyone - great to be here.

Secondly, I really don't rate Matthew Hatton at all, he's always going to be living off his name. Barnes, Anderson (like another poster said) are at British level, he's only just scraping area level.

 

Bang om the money mate, but even area level is pushing it.:good :good :good

 

I hope Nuumbembe gets his long awaited crack at Hatton. Jennings would box his head off.

Your comment about Hatton living off his name got me thinking about
other boxers with brothers in the sport, off the top of my head here are some -

Amir & Haroon Khan
Kevin & Vinnie Mitchell
John & Joe Murray

Will be interesting to see if any of these achieve as much if not more
than their brothers or remain in their shadow.

Although there are obvious advantages there are drawbacks too as
comparisons will always be made - some fairly and some not.
