If he was truly capable of beating Robinson easily, he would have already cleaned out the welterweight division by now because none of todays welterweight contenders is on the same level as Robinson. No fighter in history from 147-160 beats Robinson easily.

Speed neutralizes speed.....so then you fall back to power. Robinson hits much harder than Mayweather.

The LaMotta fight is a different story. LaMotta comes from a Norheast Big City environment and fought fighters of the WW 2 era.

PBF starts talking smack to LaMotta, and Jake would laugh at him and say now it is going to be a street fight in the ring. (I think LaMotta brutalized Tony Janerio too for being "pretty").

I am waiting to see if PBF can beat Cotto, before saying he can beat a large MW like LaMotta.

    DG,

I see your reasoning, like the can't-miss Soviet hockey team over the U.S. in the '80 Olympics.

LaMotta would be schooled by Mayweather.

He is as one handed a fighter as Hatton, although larger, is slower than Hatton.

Mayweather wide, wide UD over 12 or 15 rounds.

SRR lost to them because he was past his prime you ****in tool. Lets see Pretty Boy fight 200 pro fights or fight in his 40's. So far he hasn't even WON 40 times. SRR has more KOs then Floyd's whole pro career, its inevitable at this rate.

So now this is your theory: Floyd beat Hatton, and now he can "easily" beat the greatest p4p fighter of all-time in his prime? If you're going to be such an opinionated ***** about it, you should really think twice before saying he would outbox them.

    P.S. You're a ****in moron.

I believe that Mayweather would not have been able to withstand a Jake Lamotta onslaught, boxing is an evolving sport. Mayweather has the ability to look at what worked for LaMotta's era and style his game to adapt to a fighter such as LaMotta. This would give Mayweather a huge advantage. If they had both been in the 40's/50's, Mayweather never gets a shot, he wouldn't rank high enough to get that shot. In 2000 what made Jake great would have made him a middle of the road boxer in Mayweather's era and they wouldn't have met because in 2000 jake wouldn't have been good enough.

So if Mayweather fought 100 lower rank fighters in between his world title fights, his record would be better?

What's the point in Mayweather fighting Junior Witter, Gavin Rees and title holders like that? It'd be like taking candy from a baby with great ease, we all know who'd win - but those were the way things were back then.

Robinson's losses also coincided with him going up in weight divisions. At 147 lbs he was king - in the higher divisions he wasn't so effective. If it was just a case of old age and 'past his prime', why did he take on title fights knowing he was long past it?

DG- The reason that Robinson had to take fights 'past his prime' was he needed the money! His show business career didn't work out, the businesses in Harlem failed...He was forced to return to fighting...He had to survive and he had people who depended on him...How little common sense you must have to make such a shallow statement...You have made a pathetic attempt to denegrade Robinson and his opponents, but they were the ones who paved the way for the Mayweathers and DeLahoyas...Hopefully they will be able to take care of their money...Robinson was a pioneer in the sport of boxing.

Is LaMotta still alive? The most amazing thing about him is that when I watched interviews with him when he was like in his 70's he was totally lucid. I could hardly believe it after all the wars he'd been in.

As far as fights: Mayweather dec. over LaMotta, SRR beats PBF.

Doppel, you first stated that floyd could school both, then retracted and said that on reflection robinson would beat floyd, and now you once again claim floyd could beat robbie. (maybe the massive acheivement of beating hatton 'im too small and unskilled' changed your mind again?)
Why dont you do us all a favour and go away and THINK about this issue logically, then come up with an asessment which is stable. (remember to allow for weight divisions and size, this is why pavlik does not call out klitschko, and why floyd wont fight calzaghe.)
I hope to god that cotto or someone brings floyd and his fans down to earth....God help us if floyd beats cotto or paul williams, they will be saying floyd beats fedor, jesus and a a great white shark as well....:scaredas: :yikes :nono :rasta :nut :rofl
ps; love to see that shoulder roll against a great white,if you forgive the pun...

He might beat Jake Lamotta but not Sugar Ray Robinson. There is nothing in PBFs game that implies he was better than Robinson.
