The only way Haye is ever going to get any kind of acknowledgement in the heavyweight division is by showing a good fight against either of the klitschko bro's, anything else just won't do it simple as that.
TBH, 2 of the 3 (or 4?) knockdowns came from hitting Ruiz on the back of his head. Ruiz would have probably went the distance with Haye, who was clearly becoming more and more conservative as the fight went on. It was a good fight, but... he lounges, he was hit quite many times, he relies on wide punches... that doesn't bode well againt a Klitschko. To make it worse, he clearly hasn't got the cardio to sustain constant pressure. Even now when he's fighting at his 'natural' weight. He has power, good speed but... Klits are too much for him. Simply because he has flaws so obvious and if there are fighters to take advantage of those, it's the Klitschkos who will. But anyway, good fight. Props to Ruiz, for fighting for as long as he did. TBH, I really think he would have had a better chance fighting inside than playing range game against Haye. Now I hope he retires. He has certainly had a good career and should enjoy the rest of life outside the ring.
He still has loads of work to do, but he has great reflexes and fast hands with good power. He just needs to keep his hands up abit and use his jab more like he was doing in rounds 2-3.
I kinda feel sorry for Ruiz. The guy will fight anybody, has a good resume, and still I hear no one on Earth claiming to be a Ruiz fan. Style or not the guy has heart and is difficult to knock out. Much respect to Ruiz for showing heart and Haye for giving a good scrap. Haye needs to work on defense and bodypunching but he should be doing just fine.
I'd give him ackowledgement if he'd beat... the winner of Arreola vs Adamek Eddie Chambers Povetkin Kevin Johnson I can't give him credit for beating a number 27 ranked fighter or any of the regular contenders fighting for the WBC belt. Because those fighters are just not up to par. With this done, I hope Haye vs Klitschko is made. No more senseless mandatories and rematch clauses.
I actually Think David Haye showed us a good deal about his stamina and chin tonight. I mean sure he can't throw punches like a welterweight all night. But for a guy to throw soo many bombs he must be in good shape. His general stamina problem isn't that he has a stamina problem its more that with the way he fights he expends a lot of energy. With respect to his chin I think he road the punches well and got hit enough to show us that it will take a clean punch to unsettle him. I mean he probably couldn't take the same kinda punches that he dishes out but thats not exactly a suprise. All and all I'm gland he was a little crude/rusty and that the fight went as long as it did because in doing so it helped answer some questions that I had.
Ah, there´s the first one. I look forward to see you vanish after Haye got knocked out by either Klitschko, or Povetkin, or Chagaev, or even Peter, Arreola or Tua.
I've wondered where you've been hiding since 'German' AA got his arse handed to him. And by the way what did you want Haye to do? You offer your back and your asking for trouble.
