Middleweight. But today I think he would have been a Welter/Light Middle.

no he wouldn't be a welter, he was a welter when he was a teenager. He'd be a super-middlelight-hjeavy

he was somewhere between 5'7 and 5'9 and had a massive body and shoulders. Sure the dude was short but i don't think he was 5' 6

Langford was not small. He is best described as very compact. Langford was a sturdy man with strong legs, wide shoulders, a thick neck, and a muscular back. He looks a bit like an American football running back in his work out clips.

Langford stood about 5'7". I have seen 5'7 1/2" too. This is short, but the rest of his tale of the tape was impressive. Sam had extremely long arms which enabled him to fight at many distances. Langford's listed reach was 74 inches, which as far as I know is a record for a man of his height.

I think Langford's best weight was about 170-185 pounds, however it should be noted that Langford won some big matches weighing 190 pounds or more.

exactly, he was a light-heavy at his peak and that's how and where he should be ranked

and he spent several years as a light-heavy, not a welter or light-middle. He only fought on those weights for when he was young. And he was massively bulit

No he only fought at higher weights because he could not get the fights in the lower weights and there was less money in the lower weights. He was not massively built at all, he was squat.

when he beat the best light-heavyuweights of his time then he is an atg heavyweight, he fought at higher weights because he outgrew the welter division :patsch that's why.

That is not the case. Some of his best wins where against bigger men but his best weight was Welter or Middle.

74 inches? That would mean his wingspan would be 8 inches greater than his height.

Welter to middle weight would be natural to him at his peak.
