agreed. don't know how close it would be as i think pea would pull away in the championship rounds from a very frustrated camacho but it would be a tough, tough fighter for pernell

Whitaker rates much higher but H2H I think Camacho gives Whitaker problems. A prime Camacho was faster than Whitaker and just as hard to hit. Both southpaws. Both men were very durable and well conditioned. Each fighters "tale of the tape" is almost identical to the others.

Sweet Pea went 40-4-1 (17) 1NC overall and he was stopped once, LKOby4 Carlos Bojorquez in his last fight. He went 19-3-1 in World Title Fights. He was the IBF, WBA, and WBC LW Champ, IBF JWW, WBC WW, and WBA JMW Champ.

Camacho went 79-5-3 (thirtyeight KOs) overall and he was never stopped. He went 9-4 in World Title Fights. He was WBC LW and WBO JWW Champ.

    They both fought:

    Jose Luis Ramirez-
    Camacho W12 1985
    Whitaker L12 1988 (questionable loss), W12 in 1989

    Greg Haugen-
    -Whitaker W12 in 1989
    -Camacho L12 and W12 in 1991

Camacho lost a point prior to the 12th round of their first fight and it cost him the fight. I think the point loss was bullshlt! It was later ruled a NC because Haugen tested positive for marijuana. For some reason it was changed back to a win for Haugen but the WBO belt was stripped. CRAZY!

Camacho avenged the loss by winning a decision 3 months later.

    Julio Cesar Chavez-
    -Whitaker D12 in 1993 (questionable)
    -Camacho L12 in 1992

    -Whitaker L12 DeLahoya was close
    -Camacho L12 DeLahoya was not

-Neither man did well vs. Trinidad, both lost decisions.

    So...

    Whitaker vs. Camacho

If they fought 3 times I think Whitaker would win twice. Every fight would be close and Camacho would look perfect in the fight he wins... but we all know Camacho couldn't do something like that 3 times.

    Whitaker W12 most nights.

i think the distinction needs to be made pre-rosario camacho or post. i think we're assuming pre but they are two completely different fighters
