Didn't JMM learn his lesson about moving too far up in weight when he got beat up by Mayweather?

 

These guys bring some excitment to the heavyweight division. Maybe if they will be succesful in their HW career, the whole division will change. Because now we see a constant production of +6'4 250lb sluggish clubbers. Everybody wants to be Lennox Lewis...
But I belive that solid 220 pounder can be even more powerful than more muscled and slower fighter, and whats more important - more entertaining to watch.

The more cruiser's moving up the better. No reason why a good 200lb fighter can't pack on another 20lbs worth of muscle. They'd still have to be a special talent to trouble Wladimir but he won't be around for ever and I know i'd much rather watch some quick and agile smaller guys than a 'super' heavyweight jabbing his way to victory.

Other than maybe Adamek, I don't see any of them making much noise at heavyweight. Based on style, I think Cunningham could do well against some guys if he moved up, although eventually his chin would let him down there. I just don't see how most of the current heavyweights could deal with someone who can actually stick and move though. Banks is nothing special. Mormeck is too small for heavyweight and too far past his prime, IMO.

 

Couldn't agree more. It's great to see quick, lean heavyweights. Covered it in another thread but I think alot of small heavyweights seem to feel that additional mass is necessary to compete which is a shame.

Hopefully Haye et al will continue having success coming in around 220 and dispell that mindset

 

Adamek has already learned in one fight that putting up too much weight is unecessary. He was 222lbs fighting Estrada (which was 8lbs heavier than with Golota), looked a bit sluggish and now Shields wants him closer to 210lbs. Thats already good recognition regarding the weight issue. Higher weight does not equal a better fighter. Each fighter has to find their optimum weight.

 

speaking of Cruiser's moving up to HW, what ever happened to O'neil Bell .. dude was supposed to make his debut at HW then vanished off the face of the earth or something

**outside of Ademek + Haye agreed not many 200lbs have done exceptional .. but with Cruiser very stale at the moment

I am curious to see which of these Cruisers moving up to HW can make some noise.
