I'm being serious here, they have what is probably the most highly regarded 'Genuine World title Strap' but the whole organisation is now a complete shambles. Not being content with making a new 'Catchweight' belt (Diamond) they have now introduced the new 'Silver Belt' as a way to combat 'interim titles' and the lack of seriousness/disregard afforded to these interim titles atsch http://wbcboxing.com/indexEng.php
I agree that the whole organisation is rotten to the core, but the history of the green belt & the legends who wore it, and now the up & comers who aspire to wear it, will mean it'll be around for a good while yet.
The sanctioning bodies, as a whole, will **** off when promoters stop taking a myopic approach to boxing and there is a viable alternative. In other words, never.
Shocking that! Wanting to strip Alexander for his admirable desire to unify another belt. A disgrace. These arseholes will be the architects of their own downfall.
I think Sillyman might have the hump because Bradley chucked the title because he felt the WBO's mandatory was more worthy of a shot at him. Therefore doesn't want Alexander to give Bradley a payday in the name of his title. I'm sure whichever two no marks he will have fighting for the title will being him more money..... or is that not relevant in this case, he's merely trying to make a point? The sooner the boxing fraternity, fighters, promoters and TV companies get together and end this mess the sooner the sport can move forward. What is the point in calling yourself a world champion when there are other ''world champions'' co-existing in your weight class?
Pavliks been WBC/WBO champ for almost 3 years now. The WBC baffle me with their **** sometimes, they'd be the shitist boxing organisation in a normal world but unfortunately the WBA manage to be even worse.
Where did the copy of that letter come from? That is ****ing ridiculous. He read in a paper that Devon wanted to fight Bradley and has therefore asked him to relinquish his title. WTF? atsch
that letter is ****ing ridiclious. full article with comments from Alexanders team here. http://espn.go.com/sports/boxing/bl...id/5064230/wbc-bullies-trying-shaft-alexander surley the WBC need to strip Vitali for saying he wants to fight David Haye??? The IBF is actually the only non corrupt belt. they don't have interim titles, you get into there rankings by beating fighters ranked by them, they enforce mandatorys (sometimes **** ones i agree) and if you don't want to fight them you will get stripped.
:deal I go along with that. The only problem, in my view, is that you have to target an IBF ranking to make it to their #1 spot and when faced with this so many up and coming fighters chose to target a WBC ranking instead due to the history behind the belt. Hopefully this will change if the WBC keeps going like it is.
I don't really get why that is a problem. Surley if you are a decent prospect that want to get in the rankings, you should push for a fight with a top 15 fighter and build your way up.
I agree but there is often a difference between a top 15 WBC and top 15 IBF. When it comes down to a straight choice I believe that most would still go for the glory of the WBC ranking and strap. Probably more relevant to the top 5-8 rather than down to 15 where most good guys get ranked with all the major bodies. I guess the saving grace is that the IBF seem generally happy for their champions to pick voluntary defences.
