just read this on boxrec.com bit gutted.

Scotland's Commonwealth super-featherweight champion Ricky Burns faces the massive disappointment of seeing his world title challenge fall by the wayside.
The Coatbridge boxer, promoted by Frank Warren, was supposedly going to fight WBO champion Roman 'Rocky' Martinez for his title, mooted to be on April 24th.
In March, ***********.com quoted Martinez's view that Burns' promoters "offered very little money...they made us an offer and we did not agree" though the actual figure offered was not disclosed.
According to reports coming from Latin America, Puerto Rican Martinez will now defend in his homeland against Nicaraguan Gonzalo Munguia on May 29th.
At the time of writing, no explanation has been forthcoming on Warren's website.
A Scottish newspaper reports that Burns will now box a ten rounder on the undercard of Kevin Mitchell's match against Aussie Michael Katsidis - not confirmed on the aforementioned website.

first of all i wanted to go to thre fight, was meant to be in the kelvin hall.

i then read he was fighting on the mitchel undercard , was abit annoyed as this is the second world title fight meant to be in scotland that frank warren has let me down with, the last one was alex arthur.

whats going on with burns now? when he gonna get his shot? or will he get his shot?

wonder what happened here. Did warren not feel the man could do the job, or was it just no feasable money wise, or a mixture of the two? Could they not get martinez to scotland>?

the fact Warren got Alex Arthur to world level and got Ricky Burns to mandatory position prooves he is a good promoter.

I'd say this is good news, to be perfectly honest.

He would be coming off a long layoff, and let's face it in his last fight the performance wasn't great.

Good that he's getting plenty of good sparring and hopefully a decent opponent for his ten rounder in May - before challenging Martinez for the Warren title.
