If Warren had even been willing to make halfdecent offers to anyone, Calzaghe COULD have faced better opposition throughout his career (if he really wanted that). Fwank Warren been protecting his investment LOOOOOONG time, bc the british public were quite happy to pay good money for seeing Joe put against Salem, Pudwell, Manfredo and the likes. And Joe let him - at least untill now.
My take on it is that ANY of the fights mentioned could have been made - probably including Ottke, if Warren had been willing to pay a reasonable marked value for it (on fair terms). But then maybe he wouldn't have been able to afford quite the fancy cars he drive today - so that was never an option.

Fantastic post yesihavearm... I agree wholeheartedly apart from the bit above. His resume would be a lot more credible if he had fought a few champions while they were champions. Lucas would be more impressive than Miguel Jimenez for example.

Kessler only accepted the fight in Wales because Palle couldn't give him the money he wanted in Denmark. But, in the UK, Warren could generate it.

HBO didn't buy the fight till very recently (hence the scheduled time change).

Couldnt have said it better. When Kessler fans argue, they always leave out the majority of the facts that would in some way hinder their boy.

if it wasn't for Palle/Kessler the fight never would have happen. They continually tried to make it. Calzaghe said all the time - he's not a option.
