Below article is from a respected news source in Tua's home nation. If he becomes WBO no. 1 contender, then this indeed seems credible- "Tua could face Klitschko for WBO belt Fri, 09 Apr 2010 5:00p.m. By Jim Kayes David Tua could be fighting for the WBO belt in about nine months; but his promoter, Cedric Kushner, is confident Tua will be the number one contender inside a month. It was a fight that failed to stop a nation, but David Tua's 12-round win against Friday Ahunanya rated where it mattered, with the WBO expected to make him their number one contender within the next few days. It means Vladimir Klitschko can't say ‘no’ when Tua comes calling – though just when that will happen isn't known. “I'll tell you what I'll guarantee you: David's going to fight in the next nine months for the world championship – I'm optimistic about that and I feel positive about that,” says Kushner. While Tua was outclassed by Lennox Lewis in his 2000 title fight, Kushner is confident an older and wiser Tuaman is ready to rule the boxing world. “I really, really believe that he's the hardest puncher in the heavyweight division, and he proved last week that if he has to go 12 rounds he's capable of doing that as well,” Kushner says. Before there is any lucrative title fights though, Tua has two fights to go as part of his contract with Maori TV. “Hopefully by next week I'll have a fight sorted out,” says Kushner. “It will be offshore – everyone knows we have two fights left with Maori TV. We plan to honour that contract.” What could also delay things is that Klitschko's next fight is against Russian Alexsandr Povetkin. If he loses, Tua will probably have to wait for a rematch before he gets a crack at the title." - http://www.3news.co.nz/Tua-could-face-Klitschko-for-WBO-belt/tabid/317/articleID/150345/Default.aspx ------------------------- Would this be an exciting fight, people??
He's more dangerous...he's not better. In all likelihood Wlad would shut him out 12 to 0 on the cards, maybe even knock him down once or twice. Tua has been finished for years. He just hasn't fought anyone good enough to prove that.
i think tua's is a the best heavyweight out their. he might not be the best brain but his power is incredible and has the best chin at the moment. i would like to see him beat arreola first just to make sure age hasnt caught up with him if it hasn't then he beats anyone out their.
Tua is not shot. I saw his last 2 fights. Actually he looks pretty good. Still VERY dangerous with bombs in both hands. Go watch TUA-CAMERON and tell me he is shot??
It would certainly generate interest, a lot of postings on sites, and considerable buzz because of Tua's left hook. Whether that would translate into another Klitschko smackdown is another matter.
Yeah, I wouldn't say he's as skilled as Eddie Chambers or Ruslan Chagaev or Sultan Ibragimov. I would, however, say that he's got a better chance of beating Wlad than those guys do. Although there is also that chance that he never connects with the big shot and winds up losing 120-108 x3.
if TUA lands on WLAD it's lights out for sure. the problem is, look how cautious WLAD is against feather fisted guys like EDDIE CHAMBERS... the WLAD-TUA fight would be a snoozer with WLAD just keeping his left arm pretty much extending prodding TUA in the face for 12 rounds.
I believe Tua has a good chance of KO-ing Klitschko. Literally one punch getting through is all it takes.
Tua would be absolutely shut out if he fought Wladimir Klitschko, in my opinion. Worse than when he fought Lewis, due to the fact that he is almost ten years older and Wladimir is at the top of his game. I still wouldn't mind seeing the fight, though there are plenty of other fighters I would rather see Wladimir face, i.e., Haye, Povetkin, Valuev, Arreola, Peter, Vitali, etc.
You thought Wlad fought an overly cautious fight against Chambers? Tua would eat jabs all night... and he wouldn't get closer than 6 feet away from Wlad lol.
It may as well have been Cameron Diaz, for the way Shane performed!! I like Tua, and the fact is that he does have an outside chance of beating Wlad, which is more than most of Wlad's recent opponents, but even David's most fervent supporters will agree that a victory over Ahunyana does not entitle you to #1 contender status! It would appear that the WBO are desperate to see Wlad-Tua, which is fine...As long as they want their "Rankings" to lose yet more credibility! I say let David fight a "Genuine" top 10 contender, and if he defeats them then why not give Tua a shot? I'd rather watch Wlad fight a guy who has a very slim chance of beating him, rather than the complete no-hopers Klitschko has faced recently.
