Why? I don't give a **** about the little league baseball world series, either, because it's irrelevant to the professional sport. And at least then they are actually playing the same sport. Amateur boxing and professional boxing use different equipment, different rules, and a different mode of scoring.

America has the best history by far, but recently I would say Europe is doing better. Overall I would say America come out easily on top. When you think heavyweight you think Louis, Ali and Tyson. When you think cruiserweight you think Holyfield. When you think welterweight you think Sugar Ray Leonard. When you think middleweight you think Marvin Hagler. Then you've got Roy Jones that did amazing things moving up to heavyweight and taking the title. When you think G.O.A.T you think Sugar Ray Robinson. That's just my opinion of course.

I've never understood this Europe vs America rivalry, there's no ryder cup in boxing. Great fighters and boxers can come from anywhere. All I hope for is exciting fights that can help lift the sport.

I don't get the rivalry either. I obviously support the fighters from my country (as long as they are not assholes) but I wouldn't cheer on a Euro fighter because I am from Europe.

I am just as likely to root for an American boxer as I am for a German fighter. I think many Americans see Europe as one country when it really isn't.

Many members of European countries in this very thread are perpetuating the idea that Europe is somehow one competitive entity, probably because that's the only way they can compete with the US in this instance. There are plenty of threads and posts from Brits or Danes or Germans or what have you about how European boxing is trouncing American boxing. Perhaps that has a lot to do with it, eh?

From Super Welter to Cruiser the US still has the top fighter inthe divisions.

    Except for Heavy.
