Floyd - "calzaghe is one of the best boxers I have ever seen"

In the thread title you said that Floyd said "Calzaghe is one of the best boxers I have ever seen" but then in the quote he says "Calzaghe is probably one of the best british fighters I have ever seen."

There is a world of difference between those two statements

 

I thought British was the world

 

Yeah that quotes a bit misleading, but Floyd has said on more than one occasion that Joe Calzaghe is one of a few fighters he thinks is world class. He says something about Calzaghe probably has the best adaptability in boxing or something along those lines.

 

i was thinking along the same lines. although standi claims to live in the UK, but seems to hate everything about it..........

This isn't the actual quote...in the actual quote it doesn't list a name...it just says "the other british fighter".. i was thinking JC but I didn't know he was british and the "Probably one of the best I've Ever seen" was not in the quote either....at least not the one I read b/c I was pissed he didn't give a name.

 

I am certain the quote "one of the best ever" is intended to put Calzaghe up there with Sugar Ray Robinson and Floyd (if it were actually a genuine quote).

 

LOL.....Floyd nor Joe can be compared to what Ray Robinson was...but they are GREAT fighters with oustanding skill and natural ability. I just wish both Floyd and Joe had more motivation to make challenging fights. Floyd has done so a lot more than Joe but I do think Joe is one the most polished fighters out there. I just don't know what his heart is like and if he can come back from a tough fight.

 

He sure does have heart. Fighting through the last few rounds with a broken hand tells you that. And watch the Byron Mitchell fight.

 

Floyd said Calzaghe is the best BRITISH fighter ever seen.

I looking forward to see what Floyd will say 5th of nov. Kessler is the best boxer he ever have seen?

Floyds right about Calzaghe.:yep He i one of the best technical boxers that has come out of the UK.

so you don't think much of bob fitzsimmons, jimmy wilde, ted 'kid' lewis, randy turpin, ken buchanan, alan minter, nigel benn, chris eubank, lennox lewis, ricky hatton, lloyd honeyghan?

this is also coming from the guy who on his calzaghe tirade thread said he had nothing against british boxers.

 

Calzaghe is clearly the best active boxer from that region.
